Holy SHIT! He went out and literally handled it in the worst way possible. In the way that's just guaranteed to split the team. Simple Jim, you magnificent bastard.

The fanbase had accepted mediocrity and trying the right way.
Then they had a dream season and took OSU's manhood.
Losing to UGA was rough but accepted.

The amount of Ferentz-like leeway this bought him heading into the offseason was enormous.

Then he tries to find any way out of Ann Arbor, gives up recruiting, and now is making the only universally disliked decision at QB, not making one.

Even Scott Frost didn't continuously onside kick the ball with the lead.

The Vikings guy worked with him in SF, and didn't he horribly wear out his welcome with everyone in the 49ers organization? I really believe that the Vikings guy just worked Jimmy as payback for everything he put the SF front office through. Dangled the job in front of him like a found baseball and then had him sit in the lobby for four hours when he showed up.

And as for the onside kick thing, I'll have to beg to differ. My dream scenario this November is that Ohio State gets a defensive touchdown on the first series of the game and then onside kicks it, recovers and scores on the first play. Do not shit on my dream, man.

I don't think your dream involves 2-3 consecutive onsides kicks though. Nor do they take place during the TV timeout when everything should be stable and not spectacularly self defeating.

He revived a dead Niners organization, winning a bunch of games and making 3 NFCCGs and a Superbowl in his first three years. After one 8-8 season in year 4, the Niners said "get the fuck on, you gobshite."
