Chris Spielman

The record book has discrepancies in it regarding solo tackles and total tackles. Without an exhaustive analysis, the source of the discrepancy was chosen using Occam's Razor: If one assumes that the Solo Tackle tables showing 142 for Cousineau in 1978 is the error and that the other tables showing 101 solo tackles for Cousineau in 1978 are correct, then no other changes have to be made. Any other resolution of the discrepancy would involve multiple errors. Because of this, the above shows Spielman as the record holder for solo tackles in a season.

I just edited Thursday’s entry in the countdown; I just learned that William White passed from ALS on the same day that I posted his #37 in this thread. I was at Ohio State during William’s tenure; he showed the university more grace and class than he was shown. I’ll leave it there… RIP William

Captain
Scottie Graham

His name is spelled "Scotty" and "Scottie" in the record book, depending on what section you're in, but the papers all spelled it with the "ie" back in the day. Another Buckeye fullback who would have won his share of post-season honors if fullbacks had been considered for such.

It’s almost never mentioned, but I believe that James was the first major college football player to win a National Award in 3 different seasons:

2006 Nagurski for Defensive POY
2007 Butkus for LB
2008 Lott IMPACT (athletics plus character), and 2008 Senior CLASS Award

Fitting that one of our Heisman Trophy winners is the one month mark. Just one month left in the longest off-season in sports.

I have an NFL card of this guy with the ‘Skins. GREAT player for us!

I want you all to know this. William and his wife came to our banquet honoring high soccer players who showed sportsmanship. He gave an inspirational speech and received a standing ovation. All of this while dealing with a terminal disease. Truly a good man. Requiescat in pace, William.
