2022-2023 Ohio State Men's Basketball

I apologize. I didn't know about any of that. I just to a look into past records and noticed that one. I didn't realize I had ventured into a dark place. Stepping away for a while. So long.
I would encourage you and all Buckeye fans to Google Ohio State Minnesota brawl, January 25, 1972. I was 16 and will never forget the brutal attack by Dave Winfield, Corky Taylor, Ron Behagan, and other players, not to mention fans and even the mascot, on our players. It is something that should never be forgotten.

With respect, that is untrue. Fred Taylor was a family friend. It is fair to say that he was shattered psychologically when neither the Big Ten nor the University did anything about his team being attacked and beaten at Minnesota. It was a betrayal at the highest level of the University. Ohio State were leading the Big Ten before that fight and finished the year very badly without Luke Witte.

Fred Taylor was held in the highest esteem, second only to Adolph Rupp at the time. Taylor's extended coaching tree reveals the incredible influence he had on the sport. However, Minnesota and especially the lack of support in its aftermath shattered his interest in coaching. I remember my mother saying that he told her he should have resigned immediately and that his heart was gone for the game. There were several reports in the press that he wanted nothing to do with Ohio State or coaching after he resigned. The following link confirms these memories.

Fred Taylor dies NY Times
Indeed. Fred Taylor was elite by any measure.

When went to tOSU to get MBA, got my gym pass so could play pickup games. Signed by none other than Fred Taylor. Keeping it in my 'keepsake' place. Watched him roam the sidelines with Hondo, Luke, Mel, Siegfried, Bradds, et al. Great times. Yeah, Minny beating the tar out of Luke Witte took something away from Fred. Luke was destroyed as a player. Believe I read he was a pastor somewhere. And Winfield is feted as a wonderkund. Not fair.

I will say, as frustrated as I am by Ohio St basketball, I had no idea Louisville was 4-23. Goodness
You really just hate to see it.
How Patrick Ewing is still employed is beyond me.
12-46, 1-34 vs conference the last two seasons.

Have to say do like starting all four frosh - even though Holtmann never done before. They played pretty well together, and with some added pieces from next year's class, could actually do some good things. Going to lose several (maybe 6?) to transfers or running out of eligibility, or 'we're not needing your skills here" speech. Not certain what Zed's decision is - take a redshirt year? Or come back. Or come back next year? There's couple two-three xfers that haven't played, plus a couple of sophs that haven't seen much time. The 6'11" guy coming in will benefit from having Oden (and Okpara as well), working with him. Next year a middlin' standing in b10, then upper echelon year after. I'm giving Holtmann two more years before it's 'up or out'.

Agree with all but Oden is at Butler with Thad

Not surprised Zed has been shut down. That he needs surgery shows his toughness, but this season is lost so no reason to push it anymore.
Honestly a little late. He just couldnt do it the way he's capable so they should have already let him have the surgery. If guys aren't good enough to play on the bench then find out who needs to go and who should stay and play.

I know all of these ideas sound simple and obvious when we say them but we aren't in that locker room, ever.
