So Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy is going to break the career scoring record in a few games. Some idiot on SportsCenter a couple of days ago said “to be fair, there was no 3-pointer when Maravich played”.
While that’s true, the actual “to be fair” statement should be that Pistol Pete couldn’t play as a freshman due to NCAA rules, and didn’t get a 5th year because of Covid.
Maravich, in 3 years, played 83 games and scored 3,667 points for a 44.2 average.
Davis, in 5 years, has 139 games so far, including 22 in the shortened season, and has 3,512 points for a 25.3 average.
It‘s a shame that Maravich will lose that record to a guy he outscored by almost 19 points per game due to the extra season.

The kid is a dynamic scorer, I’ll give him that.

I'm sorry - but if someone texts you to "come here and bring my gun" and that person uses said gun to murder, you can't say "wrong place, wrong time". He was a key cog in the place and time being "wrong". Legal system aside, it's a travesty that this kid is still playing basketball or is associated with the university.

Kid should never play again until exonerated.
The coach should be fired for continuing to play him.
