Every time OSU has needed a break personnel-wise over the past 16 years, they’ve gotten it. Eventually the breaks should start to go against them, but it’s taking forever.
It’s like they have no understanding of recruiting, having good coaches, or college football in general.

Ohio State always has good players, how does that work?

And now I’m just going to bank all the Stroud negativity. I’m sure they’ll use the same critical eye for their own QB instantly on the first ten throws (in a hostile environment in the rain in their first start—which won’t happen, but just highlighting DFBIA jumping in on the D).

Uncatchable ball. Bailed out by the refs. Stroud is definitely not Fields.

Stroud not showing the big arm accuracy. He's good short and mid range tho.

Not surprised Stroud is not great. Didn’t impress me in their spring game.

Stroud looks like a deer in the headlights right now.

Stroud is legitimately bad right now. If he keeps playing like this and isn't benched before next week then OSU may actually start 0-2.

I’m thinking this may be the only game Stroud plays.

Stroud is really inaccurate. Stack the box to take away the run game, cede the screen / quick throw game and get after him on the deep throws and I think you are ok….

For some reason, I can’t find any more Stroud talk as the focus shifted to whining about the refs and announcing. Very strange???

Edit: I found one late DFBIA critique!

Why blitz? Make him pass the ball from the pocket. He’s not that accurate and it’s raining
Yes, just let the QB have all day in the pocket and hope for the best. That seems smart.

And now to take the stupid to 11.

I've been telling anyone who will listen, that we are beating OSU this year. They are breaking in a kid at QB and we have Cade. Maybe now people will believe it.

Ultimate confidence in their pedestrian QB before a single snap, ultimate derision of Ohio State’s after a dozen snaps (before he goes off in the second half).

A few comments pointed out that Ohio State will improve over the course of the season, even in the midst of the first half negativity, but leave it to DFBIA to make definitive statements three months in advance based on ten throws and zero throws.

Bullshit. Their run was over when Fields left.
I would say this guy is clearly a troll, but he’s been a member of the forum for seven years.

Here’s a fun bit of stupidity; schedule OSU as the first game so maybe we might have a shot!

Because Michigan never sucks and drops embarrassing games early in the year on a consistent basis. To their credit, someone said the quiet part out loud almost right away—we’ll have time to recover from the loss in the standings.

Warde, are you paying attention? This is why you schedule OSU earlier in the year.

mpbear14

September 2nd, 2021 at 9:58 PM ^

Yes. I think it’s easy for him to get the conference schedule changed 2+ years down the road. If he wants the game played earlier he can most certainly make it happen.

Otherwise I really think it'd be great to play that game earlier in the year. Teams that do (play their big rival early) seem to have some ability to redeem their season even after a loss.

Man if M could catch them early in the year. Smh. Especially with a new QB.

Yep.

Scrap this ridiculous last game of the year tradition.

Further proof they live in a different universe far separated from reality.

Is it my imagination or is the Buckeye offensive line not playing well? Not seeing many holes getting opened and the Gopher D seems to be living in the backfield. But I just turned the game on after the half so haven't seen a lot yet.
I really appreciate that Ohio State can literally score 5 TDs from 38+ yards and DFBIA credits the win to the refs.

It's totally obvious that the B1G (like last year) is guaranteed to ensure OSU wins the conference. Everyone else be damned.
Fuck right off and enjoy watching your offense this year. I’m sure it’ll be the refs that make them suck ass all season.

So, just to clear up a few things here....

1) Schedule Ohio State in Week 1 so you only lose 45-31 instead of 56-27....

2) Despite the fact that Ohio State pays their players more than the NFL, the Buckeyes can't seem to field a competent QB or OL....

3) The Big Ten fixes every game so that the Buckeyes always win. But DFBIA keeps watching Ohio State games hoping to see the Buckeyes lose....

Is this kinda accurate?

I too thought it was a rough game for Gus. On the int he stated as if it were fact that Minnesota had confused him when the problem was that A) CJ threw the ball inaccurately, and B) CJ should have seen that Minnesota had blown the defense and Garrett Wilson could only have failed to score on the play if he had died of loneliness after catching the ball because the Minnesota defense had neglected him so utterly.

Minnesota had only confused themselves on that play. CJ threw to an open receiver when there was a receiver who was more open, and he threw inaccurately. Gus' statement was, if anything, even more inaccurate than the throw.

Gus & Joel are my favorite duo. They both had a rough go of it last night.

Nothing to back this up, but too many people in the booth, on the field, making... what was the name used for that period of local TV news shows where everybody had to act like the anchor, sports guy, and weather person were best friends? ... witty inside jokes, talking about games they were looking forward to, occasionally talking about what was going on on the field, especially on the possible targeting call. Another random thought, Gus was the only person in the booth who thought it was a legit hit and fumble, but he almost swallowed his words as he said it, perhaps because he was the only Black on air going up against a bunch of white guys, all of whom would love to have Gus's job. Anyway, it was a too-many-cooks-spoil-the-broth sort of telecast.

Well, it hasn't got much SPAM in it.

After reading all that, I have never wanted a directional school to beat them than I do right now. Stupid assholes. So utterly unlikable.

And they wonder why we still take the rivalry so seriously after the last 2 decades. Imagine being a grown adult and believing it all boils down to luck, biased refs, a conference-wide conspiracy to manipulate rules in favor of tOSU, online classes, and bagmen. They are a reprehensible fanbase. If they weren't massive pieces of shit, I would actually entertain the hypothetical idea of trading some losses to them for NC's. But they are, so that's out of the question. And they're going to raise another generation of entitled shithead kids who will grow up thinking it's ok to blame all their mistakes and failures on external factors instead of accepting responsibility and focusing on self-improvement. God, I hate them so fucking much. Until they quit the fucking sport....
