2018

#7 scUM lands a first-round matchup with #10 Florida. Who also beat (destroyed) Michigan in the bowl game that year but If they happened to somehow win under different circumstances, they get matched up with #3 Notre Dame, who they already lost to earlier in the year.

I personally think that 2018 team comes back and kicks ND's ass in a bowl game. Yes, a Buckeye team laid 62 on them, but they scored 39.

Think about this though, the 2015 Buckeye's get punished for losing late to Michigan State in a rainstorm. Put that team in a 12 team playoff and let's see how things shake out - my prediction - the Bucks finish no worse than second place possibly win the whole shebang.

He didn't go that far, but basically blasted the Harbrau for how tone deaf his statements were, but how it's par for the course for old Simple Jim. He says he should tread very lightly because he just inked a new deal (that included a 50% pay cut) with basically no buyout and if he continues down this path, he could give tsun an easy out.

He also points out how despite the size/scope of this story, there seems to be little effort to really get it out there (the Detroit Free Press story is behind a pay wall) and if this was goin on in Columbus or East Lansing this story would be pushed to the moon.

The ground has shifted under Harbaugh’s feet and he seems blissfully unaware.

Until now, the fact that he was Bo’s guy and Bo was his was one of the main reasons why his seat wasn’t giving him 3rd degree burns. Until now, that fact made the other bitchagain Men more patient with him.

Now, blind support of Bo is not ground you want to be setting up camp on. So of course Jimbo doubled down on it. Will these revelations from Bo’s son make him backpedal? Will backpedaling now do him any good?

All good points and why I fear our Jimmy is in danger.

Without bringing culture wars into it, in this day and age a high profile person who is tone deaf, to outright "wrong", will get replaced in a heart beat.
+
Jimmy opening that fountain of inappropriate stupidity in the front of his face is almost surely going to come across poorly.
+
His boss already chambered a round for the mercy kill last year. Once you decide on the weapon and chamber the round, pulling the trigger is the easy part.
=
I am concerned for Jimmy's tenure

You gotta wonder what is going on behind the scenes with the administrative/academic side vs athletics. I think they already had a big problem there and now it must be all out war. perfect opportunity for the university to get the coaching staff payroll down to MAC levels.

Yes it should and would pretty much have to. Look at the blow back Ped Aggy received about that Paterno statue...
Based on the information available right now, the Paterno stuff is magnitudes worse in my opinion.

It seems pretty clear that Schembechler was a horrible and likely abusive father, but in terms of covering up systemic abuse allegations, more information is needed.

From that ESPN article;

A former student radio announcer said last summer that he told the coach about Anderson in the early 1980s. Several former football players also have told investigators that they spoke to Bo about Anderson's treatment with varying degrees of specificity when they were playing at Michigan.

It’s pretty important to understand what exactly “varying degrees of specificity” means before we start comparing this to Paterno and the Penn State response to the information that was given by McCreary.

Maybe this does result in the complete removal of Schembechler from being associated with the school just based on the current information, but in my opinion there is a long way to go before this reaches Paterno levels of criminal negligence.

I say this not to defend Schembechler, but to reinforce how truly heinous the actions of Paterno were.

I respectfully and completely disagree, and it's not even close IMO. Covering something up to whatever degree is vastly different than your 10 year old son coming to you about being sexually abused and you fucking punch him! Few acts are more despicable.

Oh, I agree. I meant if this progressed to the point where it was clear this shit was going on without a doubt. With what we have so far, it certainly seems at least that Bo either turned a blind eye or flat didn't care that they were employing a predatory doctor.

Both heard allegations
Both could have looked into them further and chose not to
Both knew of allegations that involved minors
Both let it happen thereafter for a long time

To me, Sandusky was probably worse than the TTUN abuser because it sounds like there were more crimes involving children with him. But for both Joe and Bo, the predator that they did nothing about could have been Jeffrey fucking Dahmer for all they knew. When you don’t want to hear about it, there is no limit to how bad the crime you might be excusing could be.

Bo doesn’t just rhyme with Joe. Their culpability is pretty similar too. Joe may have covered up for a worse guy, but that’s purely luck of the draw. Joe may have left more evidence showing that he was involved in a cover up, but what’s that to me? I’m not a prosecutor looking for a conviction. Both had a responsibility to their program as a coach and failed. One also had a responsibility as a father and chose to make it worse.

I might be mistaken in thinking that how he reacted to his son coming to him with allegations in his home is outside the direct concern of the school—versus how he reacted to information given to him by potentially multiple players—as it relates to removing statues and building names.

Our offense reverted to zone read with Zeke-JT keeping the ball after that loss. If we do that through the playoffs, we would have won it all. Sometimes it takes a loss for a team to learn their offensive identity. Too bad we couldn't make the playoffs afterwards.

I wonder if they are going to let The Baseball Chaser talk about this publicly again?

Unfortunately, I could see him doubling down on his admiration for Bo, disregarding victims and giving Warde Manuel an excuse to take him down to the river and pet the bunnies.
Can we call him Lennie?
I met Steinbeck's son in Vietnam. We had a long conversation in which I gushed about my love of the writer - especially East of Eden and the tales of the low lifes in Monteray. When I finished, his son took a sip of beer and then said, "Well, yeah, but you didn't have to live with the son of a bitch." Turned out the great man was a wife and child beater too.
