2021-2022 Ohio State Men's Basketball

I'm guessing they aren't allowed to have practices right now? That is the strangest thing. If they dont have symptoms and are taking precautions, why wouldn't they be allowed to be around each other which would include practicing? Just dont let anyone in that isnt part of the team and close practices. If I'm wrong and they are getting to practice then good.

OHIO STATE “FULLY INTENDS” TO PLAY NEW ORLEANS NEXT WEEK AS CHRIS HOLTMANN SAYS BUCKEYES WHO TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 HAVE ONLY “LIGHT SYMPTOMS”

The Buckeyes will now take a break for the holidays, but Holtmann said the team will return to have two practice sessions on Sunday and another on Monday in order to shake some rust off ahead of the Dec. 28 matchup with New Orleans. Holtmann said there will be ongoing conversations about how soon players who tested positive in the past week can ramp up their activity level in the meantime.

Holtmann said the Buckeyes will return to testing for COVID-19 “only if you have symptoms” after conducting more thorough testing in the wake of the outbreak.

Unsurprisingly, the New Orleans game has been cancelled as well.

“Our guys are progressing through the COVID return to play protocols well, but we just don’t have the numbers or readiness to play a game yet,” head coach Chris Holtmann said in a release. “Player safety as it relates to COVID and as they return to play after a significant time off, will always be a top priority.”

"While we were hopeful we could play on the 28th, I think that was maybe a little too optimistic on our part – on my part," Holtmann said on his radio show on Monday.

"We practiced with five guys (on Sunday), only four of which were eligible to play," Holtmann explained on his radio show. Holtmann said if Ohio State would have had even seven players with multiple days of practice, he would have been willing to play.

Holtmann does fully expect that Ohio State will be ready to play Nebraska on Sunday, which would end a three-week COVID-induced layoff as the Buckeyes have not played since their Dec. 11 win over Wisconsin.

"We'll be rusty, but we'll be ready," Holtmann said.

I'm looking for a way to bet real money that there will be no March Madness in 2022.

What's a SWAG if the person writing it isn't scientifically sophisticated, a WAG? OK, here's my WAG based on what I'm hearing said by those in the COVID biz, huge spike in late December - early January dropping off quickly because omicron becomes the dominant variation and omicron doesn't seem to morph into a new variant. So we could see this thing run its course by March.

Interesting to have a true 10-man rotation, even without Sueing and Towns. Unusually deep team.
Right? Thats the best recruiting tool I can possibly think of is this game tape tonight. Everyone got minutes and everyone contributed well. Even the little things like blocked shots, defensive stops, pinpoint assists, diving and taking people out on the floor and huge rebounding. This game had it all and we didnt even play very well.

Oh yeah, and a freshman scored 35 points!
