SKULL SESSION: MYLES GARRETT COULD HAVE GONE TO OHIO STATE, MIKE VRABEL IS A FOOTBALL GENIUS, AND MICHIGAN IS HILARIOUSLY BAD ON THE ROAD AGAINST RANKED TEAMS

OH NO, MICHIGAN. It doesn't really take much analysis to tell you that Michigan has been pretty abysmal against teams with a pulse lately, but they still find ways to amaze me with their badness.

I mean, this state is so eyepoppingly bad that it doesn't even seem possible (but it's Michigan, so it is).

So what I'm understanding is, I should put my entire bank account on the Minnesota moneyline this week and collect my free money.

Duly noted!

THREAT LEVEL KNOWS THAT THE JOKE IS ON MICHIGAN FANS THIS TIME

"Oh no, not again."

Last season, I seriously considered hanging up the Threat Level. Sure, I'll forever be trapped in the hell that is an obligation to watch Michigan football, but I figured the somewhat tortured framing device that is Threat Level: Michigan might've run its course. But then COVID and cancelations and uncancelations happened and we've got ourselves a super weird eight game season, so hey. What the hell. Let's do it.

Eight games to see if Michigan can find a competent quarterback. Eight games to see how long it takes the defense to stage a mutiny against the offense. Eight games to see if Jim Harbaugh can pull together the disparate threads of his brain to create a truly magical coaching performance and finally manage to get himself shitcanned.

But still... I've got to watch these idiots fumble around for two thirds of a normal season. Hence:

“Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was Oh no, not again. Many people have speculated that if we knew exactly why the bowl of petunias had thought that we would know a lot more about the nature of the Universe than we do now.”

I am that bowl of petunias, hurtling towards the ground. Let's see what foolishness we can get up to in the meantime.

Schefter shared a story that someone in the U-M program told him, while Milton was a freshman, that he could end up being the No. 1 overall pick in the draft one day.

While that trajectory might appear lofty to some, Collins didn't hesitate in agreeing with the claim, offering his own NFL player comparison of the Wolverines' likely starter.
"I believe in that 100%," Collins said. "The things that Joe has, his skillset and his frame. I feel like he's an NFL-caliber quarterback. His arm, his ability, the way his football and quarterback mechanics (work), it's just amazing. I feel like Joe—he has potential. His first game starting as a starting quarterback (on Saturday). I feel like once he gets comfortable, gets the game speed and realizes the game speed, he's going to take off from there. The sky is the limit for him.

Nico Collins on Joe Milton: 'He's an NFL-caliber quarterback'
247

Appearing in a podcast interview with ESPN's Adam Schefter, Collins discussed his decision on why remaining opted out and focusing on preparing for the NFL Draft was the right decision for him.

Says a guy that opted out, i.e. is no longer on the team. Wouldn't you think that as a WR, if Milton was a NFL caliber QB, it would be good preparation for the NFL draft by playing the season with him?

how would a dude who never played a snap in the NFL say his former QB is an NFL QB? lol
scUM man logic.
If a mediocre college WR who has never played in the NFL declaring that a QB who has barely taken a college snap and only became the starter after someone else transferred is an “NFL-caliber QB” doesn’t perfectly encapsulate Michigan’s culture problem and why they struggle to be elite, I don’t know what does...along with the seemingly dozens of other quotes from their players like this.

Well, to be fair, lack of talent and mediocre coaching is a big part of why scUM struggles to be elite.

scUM players constantly running their mouths certainly adds to our enjoyment of their struggles to be elite.
