Disagree. I think their administration has shown that they are perfectly content with 9-4 (ish) finishes year in and year out so long as they are making $$$ and there's no major scandals. "Slightly above mediocre" is the standard. Then there's the whole "where do we go from here?" factor. Jimmuh was "the guy" when they hired him. He was a rock star, alumni coach with the NFL pedigree. If he can't do it, who can? Plus, those wounds from the Rodriguez/Hoke years are still fresh. I bet they fear a return to lows of those years and are content winning 9-10 games...even if the occasional 7-6/8-5 (ish) season is mixed in. They're stuck with him unless he rattles off a couple of losing seasons.

3-5 would be hysterical tho.

I personally don't think Harbaugh survives after this season short of a national title.

Disagree. There are not _ichigan men left with name recognition. Les Miles is an absolute has been at this point and had to settle on Kansas. Hairball is the highest they can go now without having to go the cHoke route with an unknown commodity, or back to a gimmick type coach with RichRod and both set the program back. The only positive with the other 2 is that they don't make nearly the amount that Hairball does. I think Hairball is there for the long haul, he's done everything for the program, but you know, beat tOSU. And it seems like the fan base is coming to grips of settling for that, which is insane to OSU fans because someone like that(cough cough Cooper) would be run out of Columbus.
Hairball can keep putting up 10 win seasons and getting to bowl games and the administration and fans will allow that for as long as he wants to stay, imo

I tend to agree with pnuts34. This year is so screwed up I'm guessing that Harbaugh will get a "mulligan" for this year regardless of his record. In addition, there are no other "elite" coaches out there "frothing at the mouth" for the Michigan job. However, I don't think just winning 10 games and going to a bowl will keep Harbaugh's job if he continually losses to Ohio State and Penn State, and never finishes above 3rd in the B1G East. Michigan Man or not the wealthy alumni that contribute big $$$s will demand a coach that does better than that.

To some extent I think Harbaugh's career is an example of the "Peter Principle". He was fairly successful at Stanford, but got somewhat overwhelmed at San Francisco and Michigan. However, it should be noted that Stanford has lower standards and/or expectations for the "on the field" accomplishments of their football team, etc.

I think it's just simply due to the fact he's a fucking mental defective.

tsun has been losing 3-4 games a year since 1979. He isn't falling short of any on field standards.

This is quite enough of this talk. Jim Harbaugh is not only the right coach at the right time. Consider that before Bill St Martin--that great patron saint of the disoriented and squandered--left Ann Arbor, he scattered small prayer beads throughout that hallowed stadium and chanted incantations to bring Jim Harbaugh back. That venerable foundation alone justifies a lifetime contract that will give the faithful year after year of thrilling 3 loss seasons, which will in turn allow him to take his place in that pantheon of real "Michigan Men" who led famous team onto the field every September. If Bo didn't need a national championship, what good are they? Every true TSUN fan knows that national championships are highly over-rated. A season is built and its champions remembered for how they played and won in September.

So, enough!!!! Let us celebrate that special cerebral talent that is Jim Harbaugh. He deserves our support in the name of the rivalry that is the greatest in all of sports! It's the right thing to do!

Whatcha talkin bout, “never finishes above 3rd in the B1G East?” Why they got a trophy and everything for their East win! Pic of it were posted on BP......and I don’t care enough to find one to post here.

We've always suspected it, now we know. Their September arrogance isn't based on their schedule; they don't have to play at all to convince themselves they're world-beaters

Meh... in fairness, I suspect that their offense looks pretty good against their defense... and their defense looks pretty good against their offense. Clearly, they can stop anyone and they can score on anyone based on their vantage.
