So... let's do a quick compare and contrast....

B1G football is "canceled" on August 11.... scUM has two players declare... both of whom are.. shall we say, not sure fire first round picks. Ohio State, doesn't lose a player to a NFL declaration until last Friday (Davis) and late Sunday/early Monday (Wade).

B1G announces they're gonna play, after all... scUM loses two more guys hours later...

meanwhile... it looks like Davis is back and Wade may still come back as well.

Culture.

I wasn't impressed by Gardner's arm though. Seemed very average to me
So you didn’t think he was worthy of wearing the jersey number of TTUN’s first Heisman winner?

Most of you don’t realize that Brady Hoke only gave him the 98 so his jersey number would stay above his career turnovers.

scUMs WR depth chart is pretty comical now too.

Not a proven TD scorer in sight

Ronnie Bell - has gotten some yards but struggles to find the end zone
Mike Sainristil - some guy DFBIA gets a stiffy over, he was the #59 CORNERBACK recruit entering his freshmen year last season. Had a whopping 8 catches. Is also 5'10 180 pounds
Cornelious Johnson - Another Harbaugh Northeast "steal" (hes from CT) 4 catches in his career (at least hes 6'3?)
AJ Henning - True Freshmen. Also 5'10. TBD
Giles Jackson - A 5'8 return man they tried to use a little bit on offense last year
Roman Wilson - a relatively unknown true freshmen from Hawaii. Was the #60 WR according to 247

Our biggest issue against Ohio State is on defense, not on offense, which is why Ambry Thomas' departure really hurts but we may be able to weather the loss of Nico and Mayfield. We'll have 2/3 of a season to get their replacements up to speed. And the hope is that Milton can give us our best QB play that we've had under Harbaugh. Creative play calling can get us the rest of the way. We just have to stop the Buckeyes on the other side of the ball.

That's high hope for a guy who completed under 50% of his passes in HS (47% his SR year) and in 11 passes at scUM has had 2 of those 11 intercepted......throwing to a rag tag group of WRs

Let's put this recent news in perspective. Prior to COVID, UM had already lost 13 starters from last year's mediocre 9-4 team. That number has now ballooned to 16 with Mayfield (their best OL), Thomas (their best CB), and Collins (their best WR) all opting out. Throw in the McCaffrey and Tarik Black transfers... and that's just a decimated roster. There's also smoke that one or more DL may be opting out too. They haven't recruited nearly enough talent to replace these departures. Can't tell me it's anything but a locker room issue at this point.

Prediction: PAIN (5-3 if they are dealt an easy schedule, 4-4 if not)

Gutted roster and they cant plug and play anywhere near like Ohio State can

2018 - 13 3* 7 4* - 0 Top 100
2019 - 10 3* 14 4* 2 5* - 3 Top 100
2020 - 10 3* 14 4* - 0 Top 100

Thats 33 3* 35 4* 2 5* and only 3 top 100 players over the last 3 classes

The 2017 classes is basically irrelevant here as most of it is completely gone. They are basically riding on the development of 3 and low 4 star players, which is not a good thing from what we've seen from Harbaugh so far.
