We will need to use the depth in the front 7 very very liberally because this season does not have 2 bye weeks like 2019 did. Having a BYE week early means we will really have to rotate guys and get the starters out early during the stretch were we play 9 straight weeks.I think we'll see Mitchell getting rotation minutes early in the season and, depending on how that goes, more or fewer (fcuk you, Stannis) minutes in conference play. He's the guy in 2021 so at a minimum you get him real game minutes to get him ready for that or maybe he earns splitting time with Borland.
I hope that Coombs can convince Day to use multiple sets so 2 S can be used at times.I want to add to my earlier post that I don’t take the one-high safety responsibility lightly. Open field tackling against B1G and better talent is no joke. I spent a couple of seasons as a rugby fullback (essentially the same responsibility- last line of defense and no one there to help) and was less than optimal in that role. We were fortunate to have that with Fuller. Proctor’s got all the physical skill and I hope he gets coached up on technique and can execute what is not an easy job.
I think we will get our best 11 on the field and IMO we have the LBS to put an extra on the field. Maybe we see Werner drop more who knows? Wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of a 4-4 look myself.I hope that Coombs can convince Day to use multiple sets so 2 S can be used at times.
