Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
I think that's a pretty good hire for PSU.
The only knock on him might be that he has never been a head coach before. Regardless, he has paid his dues coming up through the ranks and deserves a chance. He's got a lot of connections/ties in Indiana (Indianapolis HS, Hanover College, Wabash, DePauw, IU South Bend, Butler, and Purdue twice, etc.); he might have been a good hire for the Hoosiers too. It will be interesting to see if he gets any of the top recruits out of Indiana for Penn State.....
Just sayin': Maybe he wasn't that best hire after all:
New PSU coach Micah Shrewsberry’s arrival in foreign land delayed as six Lions prepare to leave
Three-fourths of the eight 2021 PSU rotation players entered the transfer portal on Tuesday – Myreon Jones, Izaiah Brockington, Seth Lundy, John Harrar, Jamari Wheeler and Trent Buttrick. It’s easier to name the ones who, as of Tuesday night, had not yet – Sam Sessoms and Myles Dread.

It’s nothing against the new coach, just named Sunday night. The Nittany Lion players are acting partly in rebellion toward an athletic administration that never explained to them the forced resignation of the coach who recruited them, Pat Chambers, then didn’t retain the interim replacement they’d known and trusted as an assistant, Jim Ferry.
Shrewsberry is facing an exodus that promises to set back his program at least a year and more likely several. Only several scoops into the liberated NCAA transfer bin can save total disaster.
Shrewsberry said he talked to the Penn State players on Monday night, but it apparently had no effect.
