2020-2021 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

I couldn't help myself when I read this just now in the USA Today. This comes from the same guy who had Ohio State as a 4 seed (#15 overall) before the Iowa game when everyone else had Ohio State in the 2/3 seed range.

I can't believe this guy is saying Nova is so far ahead of Ohio State that it would take a lot of stumbling for Ohio State to pass them ?

9 quad 1 wins vs 2 quad 1 wins........Ohio State 12 quad 1 games and Nova 4 quad 1 games. I don't care that Nova has 2 losses to Ohio State's 4 losses they played 6 less games and played 8 less quad 1 games and have 7 less quad 1 wins.

I put my reputation on the line for Buckeye nation just now I sent an email to this guy saying "Come Saturday you will be proven just how wrong you are when Ohio State gets a #1 seed"

Bracketology 2021: NCAA tournament men's field comes into focus (usatoday.com)

NCAA tournament bracketology: Gonzaga, Baylor, Michigan and Villanova are early No. 1 seeds
Shelby Mast and Scott Gleeson
USA TODAY Sports

What is clear five weeks from Selection Sunday is which four teams are No. 1 seeds in the debut of USA TODAY Sports bracketology. Gonzaga and Baylor are undefeated and national title contenders, while Villanova (12-2) and Michigan (13-1) are far ahead of the pack of No. 2 seeds.

It would take a lot of stumbling from those No. 1 seed favorites to see one of the No. 2s – Alabama, Ohio State, Texas Tech or Illinois – vault ahead. But that makes the battle for a No. 2 seed all the more appealing with little separating No. 3 seeds Texas, Oklahoma, Houston and Iowa.

John Calipari's Wildcats lose again. Kentucky basketball is now 5-13. This time they fall at the hands of Jalen Tate and the Razorbacks.

In fairness, I am sure they did not expect Clarke to miss the stretch of the season. But this is like the "Multiplicity" Number 4 version of Cal's 1 & done squads. You keep trying to copy the formula that worked in the past, but eventually you get an increasingly weaker version over time.

Side note, Jalen Tate is having a solid year at Arkansas. He isn't the most talented kid, but he is versatile, long and skilled enough to make a lot of plays. Not quite sure what happened with OSU pursuing Abel Porter instead of Tate. I am guessing Tate wanted to start and OSU wanted someone willing to accept a backup role this season, otherwise that would have seemed like a natural fit.

“The decision to relocate the tournament to Indianapolis was based on multiple factors. First and foremost was the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches, officials and conference constituents,” the Big Ten said in a statement. “Hosting both the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments in the same city allows for cohesive testing and medical protocols for both events, as well as centralized accommodations surrounding the competition venues.”

Archie once again losing all the goodwill from an Iowa win. Promptly loses to NU. Hoosiers cannot shoot from anywhere- inside, outside, FTs.

May be more of an indictment on Fran and where Iowa is right now. They play Rutgers tonight. Interested to see how that goes.

edit- er, maybe not. Chris Collins team choking away OT. IU ball with a chance to tie/win.

Hoosiers hit a long 2 to tie. This ugly game won’t end.
