2020-2021 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

I can't believe that Mississippi player just made that FT up 1 with 3 seconds left when Tennessee had no timeouts left. You ALWAYS miss the FT in that situation you force them to rebound the ball and have to take a heave for the shot instead Tennessee was able to get a great look from 22 feet that hit off the front of the rim but how are you this dumb ? Is the coach this dumb not to have trained his players or are the players this dumb ?

Seriously wow. Glad Tennessee lost they are in the battle in the 2-4 seed range with Ohio State.

Agree with this so so much and always want to scream when that situation pops up. Up 1, under 4-5 seconds. That 2nd FT/point doesn’t matter, they’re going to heave a 3. Make them have to do it after gathering a rebound (usually a big). Causes chaos. An inbound allows them to sub/set things up and advance it much faster.

Heck, Duke couldn’t figure it out last night after a missed FT, though that Miami kid wasn’t meant to miss up 3.

46 combined fouls in the IU/Illinois game. This tipped off around 9:10 ET and it’s now 11:25 with the final 42 seconds to play in a tied game.

Something has to be done about the refs being the show in the Big Ten. Somehow the NBA has managed to allow contact and the game of basketball has survived (even thrived if I’m being honest with the level play in today’s game).

This shit is so awful. For all sides, participants and fans. No one wants this. And good luck to these Big Ten teams in the tournament when other conferences are on the call.

edit- foul 47 on the Illini inbound. Love to watch college kids shoot FTs for 2.5 hours.

OT...of course.

I thought there were no conference specific refs anymore? All crews work multiple conferences?

Honestly, not sure. I know I’m still seeing the usual set of clowns running around a lot of the Big Ten games.

Kelly Pfiefer helped call 48 fouls in the OSU/MSU game Sunday. Then he was on the crew for last night’s 54(!) foulfest. I don’t know what the answer is, but when you’re above 1 foul a minute I’m losing interest in the game.
