2020-2021 Bowl Games Open Thread

Dear TV announcers, Could you please park your loyalty to the SEC outside the announcing booth. There used to be rule obeyed by journalists covering sports events; no cheering in the press box. Your job is to report what is going on on the field, not to give on-air booster talk. The homering by announcers was especially annoying while watching the games between Northwestern and Auburn and Cincinnati and Georgia, going so far as a full-throated cheer by one of the announcers when Georgia scored the go-ahead field goal with only 2 seconds left on the clock.

If an SEC team doesn't want to play a game, that's their choice. If SEC players don't want to play in a bowl game, that's their choice. You don't need to excuse it by emphasizing their discontent, or why their players chose to "sit this one out." Kindly remember that the players on the field, from first string to the fourth string long snapper, are on scholarship and should be capable of playing the game. Kindly also remember that schools like Georgia have more money for recruiting, more money for securing the best head coaches and assistants, better facilities, and more alums to shake hands with the players after the game. They don't need your free advertising and excuse making.
