2019 Week 8 CFB Open Thread

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Do they play Florida, he asks. Does the SEC make Bama play Florida.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

Bama got that "protected" cross-division rivalry with Tennessee, and since they only play 8 conference games they can only play Florida or Georgia once every six years unless it's in the CCG. Total fucking joke.

Vandy was 1-5 coming off an ass beating from UNLV.

Mizzou is leading the SEC east and ranked

Fucking polls and the SEC cock on the media’s breath.

Jax, Mizzou had played a grand total of TWO conference games when they lost to the mighty 'Dores. UF had already played four conference games, Georgia three, for example. So "leading the SEC East" was just an aberration of scheduling that everyone knew would be self correcting over time.

UT was still a national power when the conference set up the cross division rivals. The main thing was to keep long standing and much beloved rivalries. UT and Bama was an intense thing back then; a long standing rivalry that both programs wanted maintained. See Auburn and Georgia, the longest standing rivalry in the SEC. Now, some lucky west son of a bitch got Vandy and Kentucky, 'tis true. And LSU got us. But we like that, and polls of both the schools showed that while LSU has the red ass about it, Florida wants to keep LSU every year rather do a more diverse schedule on our West opponents. True, I'd love me some Piggie on the rotation, or more Miss State, but I'd rather keep that rivalry. Hell, I'd rather have Auburn added every year. They were an every year rival, and I really miss playing them annually. In addition to the assigned yearly cross division rival, we play another at random.

Some years Piggie is good (way back machine is needed), and some years they suck. See the bi-polar entity that is Ole Miss. So some of the unfairness is due to what nobody thought could happen - that Tennessee could self-destruct to a point where recruits will not go there - and any good coach won't either. UT needs out of state recruiting more than anyone, and they have become the SMU of the SEC. A storied history that means squat to today's recruits.

They control their own destiny to win the East and filled one of the SEC’s mandatory 9 spots in the top 25.

Point being that the media has an irrational hard on for the SEC.

My bad. I thought that was a given. Which is why I did not address it.

But now that you mention it, I will respectfully disagree with your "irrational" comment.

It's rational.

So Cooper took 5-6 weeks to recover from a high ankle sprain and Tua is going to be 100% in 2 weeks? Ha, yeah we'll see about that.

I think it's going to cost them their game vs LSU.

Our best two DE (Zuniga, Kentucky game and Greenard, Auburn game) have been out with high ankle sprains for much of the season. They both returned for LSU - too soon it seems - re injured their ankles, did not play Saturday, and are iffy for Georgia despite a bye week.

The two weeks estimate for Tua is a joke - if it is a true high ankle sprain.

Well, I hear that 'Bama Jack's Deer Antler Spray can work recovery miracles.
