Took advantage of the Friday night game to go to the Navy game today. Walked from campus to the stadium with the mids... atmosphere was dead if not for them. Their nonstop antics and energy remind me of TBDBITL, without the band part.
Sat a couple rows behind USF sideline... the disparity between P5 and Mid Majors is shocking. USF is little more than a HS team, from the way they operate, how they carry themselves, level of athletes. Charlie Strong looked lost out there.
USF had a Pick6 get called back for a penalty (they kept int but TD turned into a FG), and the whole team pretty much lined up to give this guy shit and yell at eachother. A coach, I'm guessing DB coach, had to come over and get his mind back together and keep the other children away.
I mean it was a monumental fuckup... but they were already down like 21-3 in 3rd... difference between losing by 31 and losing by 28. But you'd think he was responsible for all 35 points on the board.
Triple option is great - and they've started adding some air wrinkles in to open it up. But I've often wondered when one of the service academies will consider an Air Raid approach.
See the same thing with Perry, the QB, taking abuse like JT did here. Teams take away the options, force him to keep, then try to get free hits on him.
Seems to me Air Raid does a lot of the same stuff to equalize the oline weight / athleticism issues, while being much more efficient at spreading the ball around so QB isn't getting hit on half your plays.
