2019 Week 11 CFB Open Thread

Bama is far from done. If OSU, LSU, and Clemson finish unbeaten Bama will be the highest ranked one-loss team.

Far from is a stretch. You mean there's a chance they're not done? Sure. But you're forgetting something(s)

1. The committee was partially created to avoid this EXACT situation (and when I say EXACT I mean same fucking teams). No one wants to see a rematch except fans of Bama and LSU. This is 2011 all over again.

2. Bama's schedule includes a total of 2 ranked teams. They lost to one. They won't be a conference champion.

3. If Baylor runs the table, they'll have beaten possibly 3-4 ranked teams. I have a feeling Texas will be ranked next week-- 2 losses came to top 10 teams). Sidenote: If TX is ranked, it will really help LSU jump to #1. Baylor will also be a conference champion.

4. Same thing with 1 loss OU. Better schedule. Possible conference champion.

Oregon/Utah/Georgia have a chance but only if they run the table and make a HUGE statement as conference champions.

For once, I can see arguments for leaving out Alabama and (probably not a chance in hell but......) Clemson considering they no longer have a ranked team in their conference.

The real negative to the spartying is the joy it no doubt has brought to mgoblow's resident assholes. Was hoping msu had it in them to knock off tsun next week. Unless dantonio announces his retirement this week and they win one to send him out with a win I expect a repeat of tsun vs maryland.
Michigan is going to run a train on MSU....

No. 17 Minnesota makes B1G statement in upset of No. 4 Penn State

gettyimages-1186571874.jpg

After Penn State cut the Minnesota lead down to five points with a Journey Brown touchdown run in the fourth quarter, the defense had their best stop of the game, giving Penn State one last chance to steal the win. But Clifford was intercepted a third time, this time by Jordon Howden just inside the end zone.

The outcome of the game may not have a dramatic impact in how the Big Ten championship picture plays out, because Minnesota still would have had a lead in the division race and Penn State’s Big Ten East odds likely would still be determined by what happens in a few weeks at Ohio State had Penn State won this game, but there is no taking away from the importance of this game for both teams. For Minnesota, the Gophers are now one giant step closer to playing in their first Big Ten Championship Game. Minnesota will own a two-game lead on either Iowa or Wisconsin, depending on which team wins that head-to-head matchup this afternoon. Minnesota still has to play both Iowa and Wisconsin, but having a minimum of a two-game lead in the division race with just three games remaining is a wonderful spot for Fleck and his program to be sitting.

2011 was the BCS era. Bama has already won a CFP title after watching the SECCG from their couches (2017).

Oregon's loss: Auburn
Utah's loss: USC
Oklahoma's loss: Kansas State
Alabama's loss: LSU

I'll believe any of those three teams are chosen over Bama when I see it. If Baylor manages to go undefeated, they're in. I don't like their chances of doing so.

One-loss Georgia beating unbeaten LSU in the SECCG is the sure fire way to eliminate Bama. Georgia and LSU would get bids.
