2019 Week 11 CFB Open Thread

Bama-LSU is actually the least important game of the regular season, because the result is irrelevant and no matter who loses, as long as that team beats the teams they should and doesn't lose a second time, then they probably find a way to get argued into the playoff based on the so-called eye test. SEC fans will not allow a 1-loss LSU or Bama to be viewed as on par with a 1-loss Oregon or Oklahoma or Utah.

Sooner, duck, and yoot fans should root for a blow out one way or the other. Esecpn will still talk up the loser, but a blow out (esp is if is lsu over bama with bama's shitty schedule) will make it less likely the loser stays in line for a top 4 spot.

OU is the only one that stands a chance in that list.
Their right to go to the Playoffs and lose in the first round is etched in granite.

Oregon and Utah both getting to the PAC title game with 1 loss would make it real hard for them to justify putting a 1 loss SEC team that didn’t make the SECCG in over the winner of that game.

As stated by others, if it is Oregon I think they get in. Utah doesn't bring Nike money and flashy uniforms or a fanbase. I would love to hand Oregon another L but I will root for Utah to freshen it up a bit.

Utah doesn’t bring the money but if they leave them out in that scenario it shows a pretty clear bias that I’m sure all non SEC fluffers would have an uproar over.

@Gatorubet ain't gonna like this.

Tallahassee is not the same as Gainsville.

DOH! My bad, @Gatorubet!

I was typing up an email to an FSU Alum and the messages got mixed up!

I also saw this interesting bit:

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/c...ortedly-target-another-former-sec-head-coach/

However, with it looking likely that Cincinnati AD Mike Bohn will be named USC’s new AD this week, Yahoo’s Pete Thamel says that could shift the Trojans’ focus. He says Penn State’s James Franklin — a former Vanderbilt coach — could be the new frontrunner for the job:

“If they wanted to go and get Urban Meyer, they’d need to hire someone he has a strong relationship with,” said an industry source. “He needs to believe in his AD. He’s been very close with all the athletic directors he’s worked with.”

The frontrunner for USC to target likely shifts to Penn State’s James Franklin, a move that would take a substantial amount of money considering the revenue gaps between the two schools.

Would Franklin leave the Nittany Lions to head to Los Angeles? This is all speculation at this point, of course, as Helton is still in place.

I met a guy years back who was on the Holiday Bowl board. He said they hated it when any Utah team came to that game because they brought two things: a hundred dollar bill and the ten commandments, and they didn't break either one.

So, LSU’s senior LB left the team today. How big of an impact is this, @Nutriaitch ??

Damone Clark has been the guy to fill in for Divinity in a few games so far this year.
there isn’t a huge drop off to the next guy, but i mean there is a reason Divinity was starting above Clark.

Linebacker is probably our deepest position group as far as quality and experience goes.
so if i had to choose a position, that would be it.
