2019 Week 0/Week 1 CFB Open Thread

Rough week for ACC and SEC ... not that we'll hear about it.

I know that the 'SEC (and ACC) bias' gets driven into the ground, but when the dominant sports network not only has a stake in both networks, but PRODUCES the CFB playoff shows & drives narratives, it's a major conflict of interest and not a conspiracy.

This is definitely one of those weeks where there should be talk about the depth of both conferences, but it'll be drowned out by picture of Bo Nix and Alabama.

So.... After watching so many of the "Portal Transfers", I'm really not a fan of the concept. I understand these kids are trying to save their "brand", but even as I watched Justin Fields sing Carmen Ohio something didn't feel quite right.

I don't blame, say, Jalen Hurts one bit for humping it over to OU. But, you know that kid still loves Bama and their traditions. I doubt he gives two fucks about the traditions of OU (not that I can blame him but that's a whole other story).

It was clear as day TJ Green of Northwestern could've gotten that team clicking and maybe even won because he FREAKING KNEW THE TEAM. One series Green had marched them down the field prior to his injury. Johnson barely knew which team he was on. Green chose NW for a reason: ate, slept and lived with those guys for years. Johnson came in from Clemson and was...let's just say less than underwhelming.

I wholeheartedly believe school spirit plays a big role in the success of players. And it looks like Fields is embracing the tOSU traditions-- hopefully enough to gain the same respect as any other Buckeye QB.

Overall, though, the concept really takes something special out of some of these teams and it shows on the field.

U$c QB hurt and as he's going down he fumbled near the red zone. Fresno ball. Daniels looks fucked up....he might be done.

Not that anyone here really cares about U$C but you know the "Urban to U$C" nonsense is going to start up the moment U$C drops a game.....
