Yeah that seems some BS to me but them the rules.

Once the ball hits the rim there is no possession. It's now a loose ball. There's nothing wrong with the rule.

It's like people screaming for over the back. There is no over the back foul as there's nothing against the rules about jumping higher than the other guy. The correct call is pushing if it occurs.

It's amazing that most basketball fans still seem to think that "over the back" is a foul.

I call that BS and arbitrary as if it hit the rim and went out of bounds it's the defense's ball. I'm not saying that your interpretation of the rule is bad. I just think the rule sucks. Why should the offense be rewarded for slapping it into the back court but when the defense does it resets possession for the offense allowing them to grab it? Seems silly and arbitrary to me.
