What I don’t get is...
The whistle was clearly heard as soon as the shot was taken. You can hear it plain as day before you know the shot was made or not. They still think they won.

no it's absolutely not.
"Osu stinks (circa 2017) so I'm going to pretend sparty being awesome means we are all great" would be the SEC way (for MZ, MS, TN, FL, etc)
Or worse yet, I hate Michigan but am going to pretend otherwise and root them on because of a war (200 years ago in the south or currently in Bristol for the north during the fall). This happens rarely among osu fans and it's met with stern rebuke.
It's fine to be pleased that the conference won, just do not confuse yourself about your team's role in said win.

Well....at the risk of Jake getting his panties twisted...OSU stunk this year, and an OSU fan wanted MSU to win because conference pride helped OSU, so..........

Agreed. Having won last year, I don’t even know where I’m at this year. Prolly middle to bottom. And this tournament has been thoroughly enjoying.

In fact, this board varied between "holtmann can't coach" to "there's no talent here, what a coaching effort to make it this far" the last few weeks. No one was running around SEC'n and whooping Arsenio style because Sparty went this far. Everyone was cackling when Michigan lost.

South Carolina fan roots for Bama to win the title because of stupid conference superiority.
Ohio State fan rooting for MSU to win the title because.........tell me how this is different? Or are you arguing points I haven't made?

I already quoted your words back to you, and your refusal to acknowledge what cinci said... Vandy fans chanting sec. You talking to a strawman instead of cinci is not a valid defense.
Once you demonstrate that this is happening, you'll begin to have a point.
Saying "it would be nice for the league to win" is not chanting S-E-C. If PSU fans are running their mouth last Tuesday about "our greatness", that would be vintage "S-E-C behavior. Or even osu fans doing it.
Or Nebraska making it to next year's final four and forgetting to chant Go Big Red, instead chanting De-la-NEY. Or Illinois doing so and chanting B-T-A-A
For the millionth time, rooting for a team and pretending it's your victory is very different. No one mocks the sec for being fond of their league, but rather identifying first as a conference (coat tail rider)

Jesus Christ. I have never claimed that B1G fans chant anything. There is nothing of mine you can quote back to me that says that.
The simple point that I've made plenty of times is....fan of lesser SEC school rooting for Alabama to win the fb NC = fan of lesser B1G school rooting for MSU to win the bb NC. The reason both fans do that is bc they think that somehow reflects well on their school....be it chanting SEC or stating on a message board your rooting intentions, the reasoning is still the same.

You're right, you can choose to quote people and then call them out, saying that OSU fans are actually doing that too. You can just flippantly use people's posts as soapboxes.

Most people want their league to be respected.
Some people want their league to do well so the league looks better.
Few people shed all home team identity and cheer for their league when their team wins a huge game.
Few people do the same when their team is hot trash.
Most people are over the civil war. Some still fight it.
Most people in the B1G want the league to be respected. That doesn't make it less ridiculous if Michigan fans ran their mouths about the mighty S-E-C after being the only bowl team to lose a game. It doesn't make it less ridiculous for other B1G fanbases to thump their chests when OSU was the only FB team with a pulse at multiple points in the last 15 years.
