2019-2020 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

osu is 16-8 (6-7). think 19-12 (9-11) guarantees a tournament berth, while 18-13 (8-12) leaves us barely on the good side of the bubble. to guarantee that berth, we'll need a remaining regular-season record of 3-4.

versus purdue
at iowa
versus maryland
at nebraska
versus ttun
versus illinois
at michigan state

i don't feel particularly confident about any of those games, but i do think there are 3 wins. to get to 3, purdue is obviously not a necessity, but it is among the most winnable games. think i'm bunching purdue, nebraska, and ttun together. illinois, too, if ayo is a no-go. already chalking up iowa, maryland, and msu as losses.

if osu gets 4 more wins (20-11 and 10-10) in the regular season, i'll be extremely happy. that would be a strong close no matter whom we beat.

The thing is, we will never know how those losses might have helped this Buckeye team and coaches learn some of their weaknesses or stay motivated in games that follow them. Maybe if we had won those two games we would have lost that road game at Michigan or what have you.

Frankly, I think the way we've mostly coasted through our non-conference schedules this season and last has kind of hurt us when we came into conference play. We thought we had a working formula and then we got tested in new ways and weren't fully ready to respond when the going got rough. Might have helped us to lose a little more sooner, knamean. But maybe it wouldn't have.

At this point I am just praying for that tourney berth because the field is an absolute sea of mediocrity, maybe we can catch a good wave at the right time.

It is crazy that Ohio State is only one game out of third place in the league...........crazy season.....

As of right now I think we would be a 6 seed, maybe 7 seed at worst so pretty safe right now. Of course that could all change if go on another 5 out of 6 losing binge.

I just looked at the rest of the schedule before reading this and I didn't realize we played Maryland again. That is good and bad. Great if we can get that kind of win but bad if we waste a home game on yet another loss and despite being at home that will be one hell of a hard to get game. Also I didn't realize we played At Nebraska. That is a very winnable road game but one we can't afford to blow.

The at Iowa and Michigan State games seem like almost for sure losses. The Illinois game at home will be a very hard one as well.

I also see 3 wins in the last 6 have to win at Nebraska then pick up 2 of the 3 home games. Even Michigan at home won't be easy they have Livers back.
