2019-2020 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

would post in the national thread, but this is obviously relevant to osu's schedule. a timeline of 3-4 weeks is what is being publicized, but there are rumors that it may be much longer. sestina has averaged 7 and 7 while getting 28 minutes, so this is a substantial loss for a team that has been battling lots of injuries, especially in the frontcourt. major advantage for osu if sestina is out or limited for our game.

The UK frontcourt even with Sestina is a shell of what they have been. After losing a recruiting battle for James Wiseman, they had to scramble to fill the frontcourt with lesser talent. UK clearly is not as beastly on the glass as they were even last season. With or without Sestina, this is a winnable game for OSU.

I like it. Would like to see games against any of the several teams on that list that OSU rarely plays. Interesting they went with 2 AAC teams in Memphis and Wichita St.
yeah, that's odd. as far as i know, the only way they can be in the same bracketed tournament is if they play in the first round game which then counts as a conference game.

edit: apparently wrong. might just be that the in-season tournament game between two conference teams must not count as a conference game.

still...

17.3.5.1.1 Qualifying Regular-Season Multiple-Team Event. A qualifying regular-season multiple-team event is one in which: (Revised: 4/27/06 effective 8/1/06, 4/26/07 effective 8/1/07, 1/15/11 effective 8/1/11, 4/28/16 effective 8/1/16, 4/26/17, 4/25/18 effective 8/1/18, 6/26/19 effective 8/1/19)

(a) The event is sponsored by the NCAA, an active member or a member conference of the Association, the National Association of Basketball Coaches or the Women's Basketball Coaches Association;

(b) The event includes not more than four contests per institution and concludes not later than 14 days after the first contest of the event;

(c) Participation is limited, by conference, to one team per conference and, by institution, to not more than once in the same event in any four-year period; and

(d) Each participating institution is using Bylaw 17.3.5.1-(a) as its maximum contest limitation for the playing season in which it participates in the event.

i don't understand how participation is limited but still permissible.

Not to take away anything from scUM because they played well, but I do think we can beat UNC if they play similarly against us. I expect them to play better than that, though, and I think it will be a pretty tight game for the first 3/4s, at least. Who pulls away at the end will come down to playmaking.
