2019-2020 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

still don't get why so many assumed purdue would be good enough to be ranked this season. i mean, i do get it. it's hard to shake assumptions based on recent success. but purdue lost all of their scoring identity, which includes their longtime offensive coordinator. the returning and incoming players are by no means offensive dynamos. their ugly offense shouldn't be a surprise.

still expect purdue to win this one, though.

Gotta give Hoiberg some props, dude can coach. He basically put together a team in 2 weeks and after 6 weeks of adjusting they are able to compete with regular B1G teams.

If he can instill adequate defense (a big reason Doc Sadler is on his staff) and good defensive rebounding, Hoiberg's style is going to be a problem for the traditional B1G powers as the Huskers will simply fly the ball down the court before the other B1G team has any of their frontcourt back down on that end.

I don't really know what to think about Purdue right now but I do know that Nebraska no longer looks like a gimme. Conference play is going to be a nightmare for everybody.

Huskers have done a great job on the defensive glass in this game battling against a bigger Purdue team. I really think that is the key. They got a steal in Kevin Cross and I think their ensemble of guards are starting to gel into what the Husker faithful were hoping for.

Holtmann was asked on his radio show about the new flopping rule and if he's seen that having any noticeable effect yet. I didn't pay too much attention to his answer, I think he was noncommittal for the most part. But he did mention that there are 5 or 6 consistent floppers in the conference.

Anyone care to hazard a guess at who he's talking about?
