2018 Week 4 CFB Open Thread

Thank you Greg McElroy for pointing out Porter Gustins technique is “bull in a China shop.”

Dude has one pass rush move... choke slam the right tackle and be twitchy and insane and roided up while doing it.

I'm convinced McElroy is ESECSECSECPN's backup plan should Herbstreit ever leave the plantation.....

Same elementary level insights, same rhetoric, very similar catch-phrases and whatnot.

What’s a game like in Champaign?

In my minds eye it’s easy parking, chill fans, decent bars and an otherwise enjoyable fall afternoon.

I have heard it' better since they enclosed the stadium but traditionally it's a wind tunnel, which equals freezing one's ass off and crazy (not in a good way) football.

Can't speak to gameday or local scene.

Gameday used to be good. It's become crap since the program's been crap for so long. Urbana-Champaign is OK as far as B1G college towns go. Better than Lafayette, Lincoln or E. Lansing. About equal to Iowa City or Rhythmic Slapping Valley. A big step down from Madison, Bloomington or AA.

If I had to rank the Big Ten college towns (leaving out the metro campuses), I'd go:

Madison (#1, and it's not even close)
AA
Bloomington
Rhythmic Slapping Valley
Urbana-Champaign
Iowa City
East Lansing
Lincoln
West Lafayette (last, and it's not even close)
