2018 Week 0/Week 1 CFB Open Thread

Watching this makes me really appreciate Austin Mack. Dude took shots yesterday and came down with every ball Haskins put in his catch radius.

And the only catch he didn’t make, he probably wasn’t even the guy that should’ve run the route in the red zone on a fade route in the end zone. Would like seeing Victor or possibly even Jaylen Harris running that type of route.

at goddam Kansas that lost to goddam Nicholls State.

that was a big time win for my Alma Mater.
yeah it was only Kansas, but for a school as small as Nicholls, that’s huge.
i mean Nicholls entire campus would probably fit on LSU’s tennis courts.

Because heaven forbid these southerners find their way up north to play a game. Even early in the season these pussies won’t venture north of the Mason Dixon. It sucks that Washington has to go to Georgia to play Auburn or we have to go to Dallas to play TCU. How about you wousies come to Soldier field or Lambeau or God forbid Cleveland.

we just went to Lambeau in 2016

And I applaud LSU for that. However, 1 game from 1 team in a bazillion years doesn’t cover the number of times BIG teams travel South...when it becomes the norm as opposed to an anomaly give me a shout....

serious question:
how many times in last 30years (make it 31 to include 1987) has OSU played regular season games in SEC territory?

i know y’all came here in ‘87, but other than that, i honestly do not know.

off top of my head, LSU has been to OSU, South Bend, Lambeau in that time frame. and while not in B1G footprint, WVU is a lot closer to y’all than they are us, and Syracuse is in Canada.

again, i don’t know OSU’s schedule history, but until mid late 90’s, LSU had two permanent annual OOC opponents in A&M and Tulane.

edit to add schools not in the North, but not in the South either:
Virginia Tech, Arizona, Washington

also played a game at Zona St but not counting it because that was schedule to be in Baton Rouge.

WTF? No offense but I don't give a shit about any of this atm.

What did you think about last night? If you posted your thoughts in another thread I missed it.

It’s not just tOSU and it’s just not regular season games. It’s every major game for the most part. Bowl games, playoff games, major season openers like Washington playing in Atlanta this weekend against Auburn or tOSU going to Jerry’s World to play TCU in a couple of weeks. I just don’t see where there’s a compatible exchange of venues. Can you imagine the wailing and teeth nashing that would occur if Bama or Clemson had to go to Chicago or Seattle to play a playoff game over the last couple of years?

LSU travels out of region and plays actual OOC games. OSU does too.

They don't play in the southeast because almost no one there is scheduling home and away series and the bowl tie ins have not overlapped much with OSU.

Frankly we just want our conferences to stop having to travel to other teams'/league's home turf, sometimes home town. The biggest, and formerly only, B1G bowl game was in LA.

I hate the cheapening of the regular season to stretch to 8 playoff teams. Forcing actual home games in December would be the only way to change my mind. Make OSU come to death valley, or have an SEC team play in the snow in Happy valley or camp Randall.

OSU has had regular season home and home series against USC, Texas, Virginia Tech, Washington, Arizona, Cal and Miami off the top of my head that require out of region travel. This year they are off to Dallas to play a "neutral site" game against TCU.

They also play virtually every fucking Bowl game ever in a locale that is essentially a home game for their SEC or West coast opponents.

Trust me, you don't want to play the SEC-teams-leave-the-south game just because LSU came north twice in September.

EDIT

Add UCLA roadie in 2001 and NC State in 2004
