2018-2019 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

Florida drops a home game to KY, falling to 12-9. Gators look like they are not going to make the tournament unless they get some marquee wins soon. UF does have two top-50 freshman guards that Coach Holt lost recruiting battles on and are playing big roles, Noah Locke and Andrew Nembhard, but those guys aren't doing enough to help them win against top competition.

It seems like, other than the top-10 or so prospects, this entire college freshman class is not fairly weak for most colleges. No wonder Duke made sure Zion got $100K to play for them.

Baylor is the biggest surprise team in a good way in college basketball this year. They had to replace a ton of production from last year, and were only an NIT team. I thought they were going to be trash this year, not knowing who they had coming in. Turns out it is a spectacular rebuilding job by Scott Drew. This team could be your Final Four darkhorse of the year.

Braxton Beverly shot 0-9 from 3 and 0-12 overall today vs VT. He had zero points, as did Derek Funderburk, but he didn't attempt a shot.
I was thinking of Beverly when I saw that score. I thought he could have put up 10 points on his own but guess not.. I wonder how many points Markell Johnson put up. I guess Thad did know how to evaluate talent:wink:

ESPN having a "crossover" night where NBA analysts do college games. Stan Van Gundy off to a rousing start in the KU- K St game. SVG talks about KU's Charlie Moore's 3-point stats in the Big Ten, and later calls Kansas St "Kansas" when he discusses how "Kansas" needs to attack the Kansas zone.

SVG goes on to refer to Diarra as "Yada" multiple times and claims this game is bigger than any of the games K-St played in the tournament. I guess the Elite Eight has lost its luster.
