2018-2019 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

thought out of left field:

when shooting technical/flagrant foul free throws, a player should have the prerogative to have his teammates line up. if you're going to punish one team, don't punish the other team by forcing its player to shoot free throws unlike all the others. i don't know the percentages, but i'd guess that technical/flagrant free throw percentages are lower in comparison and are lower largely because there are no players in the blocks.

Beverly and Funderburk were excellent for NC St in a losing effort vs UNC. Those guys were probably both players Matta had expected to be starters and major cogs for OSU this season, so in a way, OSU is down two starters and it is remarkable they are having any success this season.

Funderburk would be a nice addition to our frontcourt

I watched a little SEC basketball, Bama vs LSU. Barf-worthy. LSU is like a magnet school for players who dont play hard and make dumb plays. Naz Reid fouled out and had to ask about 10 times if it was his 5th foul before leaving the court. And yet LSU was the winning side.

they have looked very impressive
They have all the elements you need for a deep run - good overall talent, toughness, depth, star power. I dont necessarily see experience as a substantial plus factor in college basketball, but for some people their experience would be important, too. They narrowly lost to F4 qualifier Loyola last season, and they were playing without their starting center. They can play with any team in college basketball this year.

Interesting how much Rick Barnes could under-achieve at Texas (relative to the talent level of his teams) from 2008 to 2015, basically, and how he's doing at Tenn right now.

Makes me wonder if Thad starts coaching again somewhere and rakes in a couple NCs, lol.

Wait, what? I admittedly haven’t been paying much attention to cbk until FB season was over, but did I just see St. John’s in the top 25? Talk about stirring up the echoes...

Happy for them, btw
