Television viewership for the College Football Playoff on ESPN dropped from last season, dragged down by lopsided games and not being played on New Year's Day.

Great Article, but the main issue's get ignored. What's the value of a CCG if you don't have to win one to get in? Tell Notre Dame to join a conference or go pound sand. Tell the SEC that ONLY the winner of the CCG gets in. Or, tell the conferences to scrap the CCGs and take the two top teams in each conference into a playoff series.

In the meantime, TV may be bitching, but you can bet your ass that the Screens in Bubbaland will be tuned in.

CCGs were never about championships. If they were you'd actually get the two best teams in the conference playing each other, as opposed to leaders of two arbitrary divisions. They're only about money, and they aren't going away.

As for ND, they're in a conference. Only one sport is excluded. That BS needs to go away - either you're independent or you're not.
