Ya know, if the conference champions of the P5 got auto bids it would take "the eye test" BS out of it.

Then you pick 3 at-larges and have an 8 team playoff.

Exactly how it should be done....

How else could it be done though?

Only options I see are a BCS-like computer to decide the top 4 or expand the CFP to 6 teams and have all P5 Champions + 1 team.

The best idea possible would probably be to have a flexible system where you can chose anywhere from 2-8 teams. But that'd be a logistics and planning nightmare. Though as I think about it... maybe not..all the Bowls already exist and every one of those teams would already know they'd be going to one of those major bowls. Just a question of tagging the relevant major bowl as "playoff" or "not playoff".

Yes if we are B1G champs. It would be TCU (B12 champs) versus Ohio State (B10 champs) and I would take my chances with Ohio State if I am in the committee.

Obliterating Wisconsin wouldn't hurt our chances.

A conference championship wouldn't hurt our case. Losing their last game wouldn't be good for OU, either.
