2017 CFB Bowl Games Open Thread

Tree is in trouble...

I'm really kind of over all the love Stanford seems to get every year. They were ranked #13 going into last night's game against TCU (which resulted in a loss, predictably), despite having 4 losses and only one solid win all year (against Washington, at home). So they finished the season at 9-5. I'm sorry, but losing 5 games in a season is nothing to crow about in today's college football.

Bowl games should match relatively even teams against each other - top of the conference versus top of conference, middle of the road vs middle of the road. In such a setting one would presume that the results would be close to even.

Perhaps the Big Ten suffers because it wasn't until the late 70s that more than 1 team was allowed to go bowling. The same was true for the Pac 12.

There is also the case that ACC, SEC, and Big 8/12/12-2, would not play against teams with Black athletes until integration hit in late 60s.

It seems to me that we can make one of two conclusions: 1. The Big 10 doesn't match up very well against other conferences. Or, 2. Always playing out of region has a negative affect on Big Ten performance.

And we’re stealing their DC. Sounds like we’re getting a good one:roll1: (sarcasm)

Considering how many people allege to have seen him around the facility in Columbus on multiple, different dates this month, it's probably fair to question how involved he was with Washington St's game plan and bowl prep (not sarcasm).

And we're often putting much lower conference ranked teams against higher rated ones from other conferences. Hard to find true matchups like, say, the conference challenges in basketball

I just don’t care about anything that happened more than 15-20 years ago. I certainly don’t give a shit about anything that happened before I was born.
