In the B1G this year only the games where UM, MSU, Purdue and OSU play one another are truly interesting to a college hoops fan with no school affiliation. All the other games feature one or more teams that are mediocre at best.

Sparty appears to have been knocked off-kilter by that blowout in Columbus. Went home and needed OT to get by Rutgers and are going down to scUM.

OSU and Purdue have a 2 game lead on every other team in the B1G.

Minnesota is a hot mess right now. Lost by 34 AT HOME to Purdue.

Michigan State doesn't have good numbers before today's game they had a non conf RPI SOS of 189. They had only 1 group 1 win. They had 8 group 4 wins. They were still considered a 2 seed on most sites before today but the numbers don't show them as being 2 seed worthy.

Yeah, I was thinking MSU was a lot better than they actually are. They appear to be the #4 team in the B1G right now. Just aren't playing very crisp basketball - lots of TOs, and Ward hasn't been playing very well lately against good defenders.

The shine continues to come off our MSU win. But at least our UM win gets a bump.

Purdue looks like the best team in the B1G, easily. Though Minny also looks like a shell of its earlier self.

He almost always does. Sparty has these patches almost every year where they look very ordinary, then turn it on in March. This really is maybe the most talented team they've had since their NC team in 2000, IMO.
