Lochte didn't make any excuses for finishing 5th in the 200 medley, but from the underwater cam on the replay it looked like he either misjudged his distance to the wall or his goggles were flooded and he couldn't see it. Finished his third leg with a half stroke and was just dead in the water half a meter away. That was about as bad a turn as you can see from a swimmer.

I know America has been kicking ass in women's gymnastics since Bela and Marta Karolyi defected, but holy shit, when did the rest of the world become this bad? China can't medal with their 12 year old ringers. Russia just secured bronze in the all around with the performance of one of the least confidant girls who did absolutely nothing that was technically difficult. I've shown better balance and confidence at DUI checkpoints outside Tee-Jayes at 3:00 am than that girl.

Americans would have taken all three medals if Douglas hadn't been blocked from competing.
