2016 Coach of the Year (anyone but Urban Meyer, it's a joke)

Do we really need him to win these awards ? It's always given to the team who exceeded expectations and I'm fine with that.

I believe he's the best coach on the planet EVERY year and I'm so freakin' happy he's here. People mention the NFL and I laugh. Why would he take a step down ? Ohio St. is 10 times better than any NFL job and he probably knows this as much as we do.

With you all the way. I'm beginning to feel the same way about the COY and the Heisman, believe it or not. Wouldn't matter to me if nobody from tOSU ever won either one again. Excellence speaks for itself. :urban2:

Agree 100% on COY. Still like the idea of the Heisman, but it's hard to take it seriously when you have guys like McCafferty losing out and Peppers being seriously considered.

Idk if it's Better than any NFL job, it is if you're more of a fan of CFB than real football, which college football ain't... And let the argument begin...

Coaching a college football power is a better job. To paraphrase Lou Holtz, who took an ill-fated run at coaching the NY Jets, in the NFL you get one first round pick. At a school like Ohio State, you can land several of them every year. (Not future NFL first rounders necessarily, but multiple 4 and 5 star recruits.)

And you have a greater turnover in the CFB. You are playing with adults and don't have to worry about the emotions of children who let trap games occur, and there's much more talent distribution in the NFL. And no in the draft you have 7 picks, most teams are comprised with much more guys from rounds 4-7 than the first. And you don't have to babysit grown men, cut them and move on. NFL is still a better gig but not all coaches can make the transition. Holtz is one of them
