2016 CFB Bowl Games Open Thread

B1G being 2-2 with Maryland and Indiana playing to the final drive is a huge win. When I saw the bowl pairings I was banking on 0-4 and all these B1G teams being blown out. Got the short end of the stick all the way down the line.
That's because the B1G stupidly does not try to slot teams like the SEC does. They tend to find the match ups they like and tell teams where they are going and not let the bowls choose

B1G West 2-0.
B1G East 0-2.

Just like any of us would have predicted in late October.

Building on that, three of the four games played by B1G teams have had B1G teams that finished lower in their conference division than did their opponents, and two of those games had unranked B1G teams against opponents that were ranked:

Indiana (#4 in East Division) 24
Utah #19 (#3 in South Division) 26

Maryland (#5 in East Division) 30
Boston College (#7 in Atlantic Division) 36

Minnesota (#4 in West Division) 17
Wash State (#2 in North Division) 12

Northwestern (#5 in West Division) 31
Pittsburgh #23 (#4 in Coastal Division) 24

Average game score:
B1G 25.5
Opp 24.5

Average standing in division:
B1G 4.5
Opp 4.0

At what point are these idiot pollsters gonna stop shooting Aggy into the Top-10 every September-October because they win a few OOC games against [Mark May] teams and beat two other similarly overrated SEC teams. Aggy is an 8-5 team...perpetually.
I fall for Aggy every year. No more. Not sure what it is but they seem to completely collapse towards the end of the season.

They start playing real teams.

Aggy has been totally worthless since the mid-nineties with the exception of the 2 year Money badger era. Actually, that was really only 2012. 2013 they were nothing special (9-4).
Looking back you're completely correct. Their big wins over what turns out to be mediocre opponents is what always fools me. South Carolina in 2014, Arizona State in 2015, and UCLA in 2016. It also feels like Aggie isn't one of those teams that's built for the long haul.

Over inflated preseason rankings is how the SEC keeps so many teams in the top 25 every year.
