2015 Week 6 CFB Open Thread

The #SouthCarolina - #LSU game will now be played in Baton Rouge on Saturday.

as per Bruce Feldman tweet

I heard that LSU was going to do all they could to make it seem like a home game for South Carolina. (Heard on "The First Team". Sidenote: I miss Bill King.) Something like the band would play South Carolina songs and they'd have a sign that says "Geaux Gamecocks". I guess they're also donating profits (all? some?) to the Red Cross. Obviously, though, the Baton Rouge community gains from having an extra home game, and Columbia, SC loses out on that, but it seems that LSU is being as classy about this as they possibly could. I think all we're missing is if SC had some feel-good story, like an 8-year-old kid with leukemia, and they played him at running back and LSU let him run 80 yards for a touchdown.

That would probably be the cocks best (and possibly only) chance of scoring all say.

Spurrier has been starting 8 year old kids with leukemia at QB for the last ten years.

I honestly don't see the issue with Sark going for a FG on 4th and 9 last night. Cuts it to a two point game and minus a trick play you have a Huskies offense that has put up 10.

A lot of writers are calling this a coaching mistake, but it only looks bad because the kicker missed it. With a made kick you can give them the ball back and hope the D gets a stop (USC had 1 TO left) or you could even go for an onside kick.

The percentages of making a 4th and 9 are very low and the kicker was 2 or 2 at that point.

I would have went for it. If they had two timeouts, maybe I change my mind and kick it. Three timeouts, I definitely kick it.

46 yarder isn't a gimme, but I don't know their FG kicker situation. Good/bad/average kicker?

They were in big trouble either way at that point though. With only one timeout. Washington's defense was playing way better (or USC's offense was playing way worse) than I would have guessed.

Happy with the outcome though. Now I can root for them to beat ND without feeling too dirty about it. LOL

Remember when all those people were calling USC a playoff team in the preseason?

Yeah, that was awesome.

No idea if he'll be successful at a P5 program, but he's got Houston rolling right now and turned Greg Ward Jr into a legitimate darkhorse Heisman candidate. I can say from what I've been following at Houston his biggest failing is he is too wordy in his press conferences and volunteers too much info. He'll get eaten alive in a fish bowl program if he doesn't tighten that up, but he'll learn to bite his lip after four or five years as a HC.

I've watched enough Thursday night AAC games this season to already have the Houston/Memphis game Nov 14 penciled in on my calendar. Houston could be 9-0 and Memphis will likely be 8-1 (assuming loss at Ole Miss this Saturday). The Memphis QB Paxton Lynch is a baller and legit NFL prospect. That's going to be a great game and could decide whether one of these two teams gets the invite to a New Years Six bowl.

I would LOVE to see Ole Miss get upset tomorrow

I sure hope so, the only running outside of that will be Fournette running for a buck 50+

Would love to see Houston as the only team representing Texas in the New Years Six bowls. Also would be nice to see someone take Boise State off their high horse.

the LSU band will definitely play the SoCarolina alma mater and probably some other songs as well.

the LSU ad has already said that LSU will not make any money off of this game. after covering expenses, all profits will go directly to South Carolina as well as LSU making a sizable donation to relief efforts.

I can't confirm it, but there are reports of LSU fans who had hotels reserved in and around Columbia has donated those rooms to people displaced by the storm.

if all of these reports are true, then I am very proud of LSU and their fans for stepping up like that. down here we know all too well what Mother Nature can do. the people of Arizona St. went above and beyond for us after Katrina. It's now our turn to pass that good deed forward.
