BC's defense was legit this year.
A certain transcendent talent at dt really prefers the 4-3. I tend to agree with your latter statementIt's a very good hire. But also a very interesting hire. Brown is a a 4-3 Over guy instead of 3-4. I would guess that we will see a major change in scheme next year.
BC's defense was legit this year.
He's had his teams line up in four-man fronts, three-man fronts. He's run the 3-3-5, he's even used a two-man line. Most recently at Boston College, the Eagles used a four-man front as their base.
But over the years, Brown's schemes and tactics typically revolved around one thing.
"Everything's based off blitzing," Jason Hatchell said. "He had so many plays in his head, probably more than we even knew, that he brought to the table every week. The defense was built off of that.
"Some of the stuff (he ran at BC) was very familiar to the schemes we ran back at UMass, (some had changed) but the basic principles are still the same," John Hatchell says. "He's going to blitz 70 to 80 percent of the time in any game and you'll have guys running their tale off to the ball carrier. That's it. Constantly putting pressure on the decision-maker, which is the quarterback.
"He may have different gap schematics these days in terms of playcalling, but essentially, it's the exact same thing he's done for years."
