Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

It's going to be tough to go to New Orleans and beat Alabama in their own back yard. I've never considered it fair, but it is what it is.

I think for y'all it will come down to your quarterbacks play. Definitely not trying to be cocky but since Saban arrived at Alabama in 2008 we've had I believe less than 5 100yd rushers. If nothing else is good, our run defense is usually phenomenal. Of these past 9 years the ONLY teams that have beaten us have had excellent mobile quarterback play. Everytime we go into a game where the quarterback can throw accurately AND extend plays with his feet I get nervous.

That is the one pass the 3rd QB (Cardale Jones) throws well. It's the intermediate stuff where he has not always been consistent.

Has Jones even attempted enough intermediate passes to establish any sort of consistency or inconsistency? They didn't really ask him to make those kind of throws at all against Wisky.

With a few weeks of bowl practices they might be able to get him up to speed enough make that an unexpected part of his game.

I will have a better feel for your team once I review film but so far I say accounting for Bosa on defense and Smith on offense. We have an exceptional defensive line so its tough to run on us both inside or outside. Where we are weaker than usual is at CB. Im sure Urban Meyer will throw a lot of deep balls to test us there. This game will be won or lost for you guys on the defensive line. If you can shut down the run, the quick out passes to Coop and not give us much time to throw down the field then you can keep it up close enough to win.
OSU has a top-20 pick at DT (Bennett), an athletic DT alongside him in Washington (former 5 star DE) and a well known star in Bosa. They lost Noah Spence to a lifetime ban for PED use (Ecstasy), he was history early this year. In his place they have two solid but unspectacular guys in Miller and Frazier. Their two weaknesses are at DT (they have two 3-techs starting with little depth behind them) and discipline. Bosa can be the best defender in the country but also freelance and leave his team out to dry. Bennett and Washington are two ultra athletic DTs but the opposition can use that against them, letting them blow past the rushing play and getting extra bodies on the limited LBs.

Last night was so dominant because they played discipline, assignment football.

AT LB Darron Lee is an undersized heat seeking missile, Josh Perry is fairly average and Curtis Grant lacks the instincts for the spot while Raekwon is talented but just a pup).

I think there were 1-2 medium passes but they were to the outside. I don't remember any passes down the seam or over the middle between the LB and safeties.

I just joined here, I realize this is "your" board. I apologize for all the obnoxious idiots that will show up with Bama avatars, and I will ignore your obnoxious idiots as well. Look forward to the game and any football conversations that don't include the words "trailer and incest"

Welcome aboard. What if we just use the word "Auburn" instead? Same thing?

As long as you're fine with words like "child rape and pedophiles". We discuss Ped State a lot here too.

No worries. You're allowed to rep your team with pride (including avatars). You're even allowed to debate reasons why Alabama will win (but we want substance and breakdowns, not one liners).

You're not allowed to resemble the callers who were entertaining us with Finebaum during the Iron Bowl  (and yes we have plenty of nuts in Buckeye Nation)

OSU has...

Thanks for the insightful post. We aren't as strong running behind guards as we have been in the past. The interior of the Oline just isn't as dominant and we don't have a big back that can really pound it. Henry is a 240lb back that prefers to run in space. So I imagine we will try to run outside more and when we test the middle go wit the I using Fowler at FB. Fowler is also a good pass catching threat.

What sort of defense do you guys play. Will you guys play man on our WRs. Will your CBs press or play off. How much zone do you play? Who is your best CB?
