Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

Same with the Bucks, we have been waiting all season for a complete game, that game came to fruition last night. Hopefully we bring that passion and intensity to N.O. This has potential to be an EPIC game.
Last night was definitely impressive. What The Buckeyes have done in such a ill fated QB situation is nothing short of remarkable. An inspired team can beat anyone any day of the week.

Well it's no secret that our cornerbacks have been susceptible to the deep pass. I'm hoping since you're on your 3rd QB that will neutralize that problem. This game can basically go to which team shows up to play. I've seen Bama play excellent football and I've seen them play with a lot left to be desired. Either way I'm looking for a good game.
Just wondering, is your name related to forrest gump? Not trying to hate, but great movie.

I read an earlier post where someone compared us to Michigan State and I think that could be a mistake. They just aren't as physical as Alabama in my opinion. I know we can't compare previous years teams to current but just in comparison that's where Notre Dame messed up in 2012.

Well first off no one here is suiting up for the game so any mistakes we make it prognostication aren't likely to have a big impact on the actual outcome. Secondly, I'm pretty sure it was just a rough attempt at style match up.

No one thinks MSU = Bama. They are the team in the B1G that plays the same style is all.

That's my post you're referring to. I agree that Alabama will be more physical - as well as more talented and better coached. My point was that even when you account for those things, the two teams share a lot of the same relative strengths and weaknesses. I think for the Buckeyes to have the best chance to win they'll need to go back to what they did against MSU and do it even better.

Admittedly I was coming here to lurk and see what tOSU fan base thought of our upcoming game, however after seeing some of my fellow fans comments I wanted to speak up on a couple of points and answer some questions I've seen asked, but go unanswered.

1) Alabama's fan base has a clear divide. There are the people who represent our team well and there are those that do not. Please do not judge us on the few that come across as arrogant A***oles. I imagine this board will see quite a few of them in the coming month, but I can promise, should any of you come to a game in Tuscaloosa, that you would be treated with great hospitality and leave with a different perception of our state.

2) On what Bama needs to work on. The deep ball. We lack the talent that we have recently had at CB in past years and it shows. Our corners will have to do a better job at covering WRs.
Turnovers has been an issue with this team and usually we put the ball on the ground at least once a game. Yeldon and Jones will have to be on their A game and hold onto the ball. Kicking- I'm to the point now that when we ATTEMPT a FG, I expect to miss it. Never have I seen our FG team do a worse job, and that is saying something compared to the last few years. We can get away with these things against poor/good teams, but against great ones is to be decided. Make no mistake, tOSU is a great, proven team or else they wouldn't where they are this season.

3) The Alabama fan base loves Sims and he will go down as one of the programs most beloved players. I can't remember a player on our team sticking through what Sims has had to go through. From sitting 4 years on the bench, to fighting off a transfer QB meant to take over this season, Sims has shown that character and hard work do pay off.

All this being said, ask away and I'll be happy to offer my opinion. I'm looking forward to a great game between two great teams that know how to play "big boy" football. Haha. RTR

Well stated on the 'fan base divide' issue. We all have that. Generally we try to keep _that_ side to a minimum at BP.

Your post is an example of what we would hope to have from visiting fans. Thank you.

I know that I speak for others that we're looking forward to constructive discussion about football, programs, traditions and more.

Enjoy BP, hopefully our northern hospitality will be such that you stick around after the game... provided your initial post is an indication of how you would contribute to our community.

BP welcomes outsiders and differing opinions. We exepct visitors to be civil, back up their arguments and respect where they are. We love it when we come across a few quality outsiders during bowl season (or other reasons), especially if they stick around.

I think Sparty is fairly physical, they just aren't nearly as disciplined as last year. Nicholson/Williamson are not close to Lewis, though Hicks isn't within miles to Dennard (same with Harris vs Allen).

That is the one pass the 3rd QB (Cardale Jones) throws well. It's the intermediate stuff where he has not always been consistent.

What do you think will be the biggest challenge for Alabama when facing Ohio State?

I will have a better feel for your team once I review film but so far I say accounting for Bosa on defense and Smith on offense. We have an exceptional defensive line so its tough to run on us both inside or outside. Where we are weaker than usual is at CB. Im sure Urban Meyer will throw a lot of deep balls to test us there. This game will be won or lost for you guys on the defensive line. If you can shut down the run, the quick out passes to Coop and not give us much time to throw down the field then you can keep it up close enough to win.
