Game Thread 2015 Sugar Bowl: (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 1st @ 8:30p ET, ESPN (civilized thread)

The Kirby interview is worth watching despite all the disagreement here.
Media was really trying to force comparisons that he rejected (including Miss St.), and then latched onto the 'traitor' narrative.
But a lot of good stuff in there. Sounds like they've even gone back to Cardale's HS footage.

If you "let" him run, i.e., just blow him off and not game-plan for him, he'll run right over you. However, I don't expect that, but rather the opposite in that Saban will put in proper game-planning for Jones' running. Also, I'd like top think our RB and WR corps are as good as, if not better, that Mississippi State's...

Didn't you know? The SEC is the greatest conference ever, buddy. Thier worst players are five star recruits for us.

Alabama's DB's seem to think OSU wideouts are better and there are more of them than even Auburn, who obviously torched us.

Lots of worry starting to creep in on a lot of the Bama forums as people begin to study OSU.

Can't believe this is just a few days away.

Some thoughts from me:
-Not sure why people are discrediting OSU's run game in favor of thinking Cardale and the WRs will have to win it. I think EzE has a huge game. This kid is going to surprise everyone on the field and I guarantee he busts a long one. It may not be early as the O-Line shakes off the rust, but he will find a gap and go. I think he'll be the most ready and the one Herman relies on to settle the game down.
-I'm far more worried about the pass blocking and Cardale's feet/rhythm being disrupted by the rush than I am the run game, surprisingly. If the line can pass protect, then yes, I see the long ball being a key, but it'll be setup by the run first unlike the Wisconsin game.
-The biggest worry for me is just the overall relentlessness of Alabama. This team will grind and grind and overpower for 4 quarters if they play their game. Kiffin and Saban are not reactionary either- if something doesn't work early, they will stick to their guns unlike lesser coaches. I worry about how disciplined and mistake free a typical Alabama team wearing down on Ohio State, compared to the high-octane, but high-mistake youthful game OSU tends to play. Bama can break a team's will with their style.

Game is really too tough to call. And maybe surprisingly, for as even of a matchup as this is, I think it could just as easily get out of hand for one team, sometimes that's just the way these otherwise equal matchups go after a 4 week layoff. I can see Alabama overmatching an Ohio State team that isn't ready for the moment and blowing them out (30%), or Ohio State shocking everyone and jumping on the Tide and rolling them (20%)...or just a good old fashioned great game (50%).

Overall, just ready to get the show going. And I'm ready to see those Buckeyes hit the field and give it all they got. Go Bucks.

Some B1G coach basically saying OSU is overrated and doesn't give us a shot (technically he says that is due to not having JT). Due to how he refers to his team/division, it must be a B1G East team other than MSU (and OSU of course). Not sure why, but I'm guessing Franklin. Other possibilities are Flood, Edsall, Hoke (although too well written), or Wilson:

I can agree with all your points. With respect to your first point about Elliott, if you want to run on Bama, you have to make them respect the pass. Those passes, don't have to be deep. If you work the sidelines with screens, etc., you can then begin to run. Saban will put 11 in the box before he allows a team to establish a traditional run. You must make Bama fear the pass. If jones doesn't come out shaky, it could very well happen and you guys score 45 points.

Who is the only team in the east that was able to exploit Ohio State's defensive backs? I could totally see that being either Franklin, Edsall or Wilson.

Either way - win or lose, all this hoopla about B1G coaches "selling out" Ohio State is only going to cost these guys wins and jobs in the future. UFM is building a veritable monster in Columbus - one that isn't going to crumble for a decade or more.

Of the three, Franklin seems the most likely to make those comments. Indiana didn't do squat against us passing, so Wilson wouldn't be ragging on our DBs. Maryland didn't do much better passing-wise. Penn State was the only team of the three that had any real chance of winning, so Franklin not being all that impressed with us makes the most sense...

I don't know though - Wilson is possible because no one would run down Coleman. Maryland did throw for over 240 yards and Randy Edsall is a known horses ass.....

Yep, that almost has to be Franklin, and seems to be most like his voice, at least from what I've heard in PCs and such. I'd think Edsall would be second most likely, with Wilson a distant 3rd. Did Curtis Samuel see the field against PSU? I'm pretty sure Curtis can make defenders miss on the edges.

I didn't get that he said they were overrated. Just that they had weaknesses. Having the #76 passing defense in the nation is a weakness. He definitely doesn't give them enough credit.

I think Maryland's coach wrote the article. OSU's pass D had a few breakdowns in that game.

Franklin is probably a good guess given that their game has been over long enough to write it. Wilson may be next since they didn't go bowling.
The viewpoint also jives with how the PSU game went - doesn't think Eze is very good, impressed with Bosa and Lee.
