Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

Stats for Dummies.

Note how many top rushing defenses we faced this year! MSU, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, Wisconsin.
Compare that to how many Oregon faced tis year.(including MSU, who they beat at home) Stanford, MSU, Washington. Florida State does not make the top 50!
Arguably, we faced the top rushing defenses in the country. And we were able to run on every one including VaTech.

Look at Total Defense. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22
Where's Oregon?
Not in the Top 50.
it's this that gives me my feeling of comfort in this game. It'll be about which team doesn't turn the ball over and which team can get more defensive stops. I feel osu will focus on that due to FSU melting down which will correct any advantage Oregon may have in this game in that aspect. However defensively I expect OSU to come up with a few more stops than Oregon.

OSU is more methodical in their offensive approach whereas from viewing Oregon this year and in the past (this IMO is a commonality) is sometimes they go so fast that they can throw themselves out of a rhythm. Hard thing is that Oregon can find that Rhythm rather quick as well though but I think there will be a few times in the game were Oregon will help our defense out by doing something a little too tricky or creative. It'll be enough IMO to give our defense a few stops and I'm confident that we will earn a few stops as well.

With OSU they're just to punishing on offense with TE's that are big, athletic, but love to block (unlike O'Leary). Also the one thing I'm supremely confident is you haven't faced a WR group like this at all and it's not close. They're all threats in their own right but what makes this group great is all of them will punish your back 7 with blocking. In our offense you don't play if you can't block at WR and this is the most sound and toughest groups of blockers at WR that I've ever seen. What's amazing is they rarely do so illegally as well with very little holding or blocks in the back. Jameis is the better thrower to Jones Obviously but what shocked me all year was how slow he is. While Jones won't remind anyone of Vince Young he's much faster and bigger than Jameis. I like your two big defensive lineman on the rush but that's where I think Jones will hurt you guys a little bit this game by escaping for some scrambles.

In all I expect a close game but a game were OSU gets a few more stops and OSU will run for well over 300. However, in this game I expect someone like Marshall/Dontre/Jones to top 100 along with Zeke because the last 3 games (Scum, Wisconsin, Bama) they've been really good at taking away the speed rush but I think Oregon will compensate too much to stop Zeke.

What I saw was that Oregon, as the higher seed, had the option and choose to wear white. I'm sure that Nike in no way encouraged them to wear white to sell more jerseys.

A friend of mine (Oregon fan) says that all of the people she knows hates the NC unis, because of their lack of green and yellow. I'm sure they'll sell, but not as much as if they had some actual color to them.

Bringing this over as a visual for how things got so ugly vs FSU:

13-18, they pick up a first down on the Oregon 31. Cook fumbles. Oregon scores on O.

13-25, they score a TD.

20-25, Oregon answers.

20-32, they pick up a first down at midfield. Cook fumbles. Oregon scores on O.

20-39, they again reach Oregon territory, when Famous reaches deep into his bag of failure for a lateral scoop and score.

20-46, Winston picked off. Oregon scores on O.

20-52. Winston completes pass, Wilson fumbles. Oregon scores on O.

20-59. Game over (and Oregon finally dials it back)

Now Oregon deserves all the credit for turning them over, but this has been an extremely sloppy football team all year. The difference is NC State and many of the other teams can't bury the dagger like Oregon. They went from potentially trading scores in the 3rd to losing by 30-40 simply by turning it over non-stop.

I think Oregon is a great team (I actually think they win next week)....but so many people coming to me and saying I should be scared because of what they did to FSU just leave me scratching my head. Did you not watch FSU all season? That was exactly what I expected that game to be. I was more surprised that the game was as close as 20-25 than what the final ended up being.
