Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

I am seriously tired of hearing this.
Did Meyer do trick plays or throw the ball? No.
Did EVERYONE in the entire fucking country know what he was going to do? Yes.

Is it the defenses job to prevent this from happening?

What the hell is he supposed to do? Just hand the ball back? Because apparently kicking a field goal would have been low class too?

People want the Buckeyes to just knee? Cool, don't use fucking timeouts and they probably would have.

Watch the film room version of the game. Specifically at that point.

Every coach, and I mean every coach (Pat Narduzzi, Dan Mullen, Mike Riley, Derek Mason) and Chris Spielman all said to go for it, because they would, given the time outs Oregon had left.

As I recall it, the game would've been over if not for Oregon calling timeouts. ESPN's drive thing says they called just 1 timeout, but I could've sworn they used all 3? Anyway, even that 1 timeout and the game would've been over.
They wanted to play to the last second, that's exactly what happened. The score wasn't ran up... we protected our 2-score lead by ensuring no miracles could happen.

They called one time out then there was an injury.

it's more just people looking for something that they can be angry about.

and excuses, hard to come up with any real excuse for why you lost when you got 4 turnovers, a heisman winning quarterback, were favored by 7, and still lost by 3 scores.

Bingo. Whiner Oregon fans know their team lost and can't play the "OSU got lucky" card, what with the whole 4-to-1 turnover ratio in Oregon's favor and OSU still wining by 22. The only thing left for them to do is complain that big, bad Urban ran the score up on them. Which, as has been said many times before, is rich, coming from a fan base whose team gets a lot of national pub (looking at you, Herbie) for blowing the doors off Montana State in the non-conference every year.

Further to this point, here are some of the beat-downs that Oregon has put on inferior opponents in the past few years:

2014: 62-13 vs. South Dakota (not a Division I team, of course)
2013: 66-3 vs. Nicholls State (not a Division I team)
2012: 63-14 vs. Tennessee State (not a Division I team)
2011: 56-7 vs. Missouri State (again, not Division I)

So in each of the past four years Oregon has thought it necessary to schedule a non-Division I team, and to score almost 62 ppg against them, and yet Urban is classless for running up the score? OK.

Well, you obviously don't punt inside the 5 yard line, you kick a field goal, it could be blocked and ran back, you pass....that could be running up the score, or INT. Oregon, I believe still had 2 timeouts left. The obvious thing to do is run the ball...we knew it, Oregon's defense knew it....they just had to stop it..and they couldn't.

Hell, they were in almost exactly the same situation at home against MSU THIS YEAR and did the exact goddamn thing.

Oregon 39 MSU 27 (that is a less than 2 TD lead) with 1:30 to go
4th and 3 on the MSU 14 yard line
Oregon calls a timeout and instead of kicking the FG for a 15 point lead.....
Royce Freeman runs it in for the score

Here is a warm comforting cup of shut the fuck up Oregon, enjoy.

Now let's look at the flip side, just for arguments sake. Say the bucks kneel on it, Oregon gets it back with time on the clock, a miracle play leaves it an 8 point game with 3 seconds on the clock, the onside kick turns into another miracle, and with that kind of momentum, there's no stopping the two point conversion.

And then everyone says "why did they kneel on the ball? They should have put this team out of their misery and gotten their 8th title, instead..."

Doubtful it would have happened, but I have seen stranger stuff in College football.

No go back to your cave troll, and seek your daddy's approval for your idiotic post.
And not that I think we need to justify ourselves one single bit, but here's another thing to think about. All of these media douchebags (and other CFB fans) who are now complaining about this have spent the past several years putting us down and telling everyone who will listen that we're no good and don't belong anywhere near championships or bowl games. Even in this one, after all we did to get there, they practically crowned Oregon champions before the game even started. So what did they expect when we had our chance to prove them wrong? They've been giving us shit for years- are we going to score every chance we get? Put a big exclamation point on our victory? You're damn right we are!

Fuck'em, all of 'em. We proved them wrong and they've got nothing else to complain about, so they're looking for anything they can use to keep making us look bad.

From the site:

"
You may have heard that the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated Oregon to win the 2015 National Championship. You may also have heard that Virginia Tech defeated OSU back in September.

These shirts, available for sale here, commemorate that game, in case Hokies want to look back at their magical 6-6 season. In fairness to our friends in Blacksburg, they haven't had the opportunity to purchase REAL championship gear.

Will Wake Forest, who beat the Hokies 6-3, follow suit? Will Frostburg State?"
