Hey all, I'm having a hard time rooting for Michigan State today? Can anyone provide me with some motivation?

The OSU team that beat Alabama last year was a young, talented, deep bunch with momentum before Alabama learned to just ride Henry. I don't see Michigan State having any of those attributes or scenarios.

well, basically the most exploitable advantages are at QB and in the passing game. both defenses are excellent on 3rd down and in the redzone so they (kinda unfortunately) need to force Coker to throw on some early downs. he's efficient at like 66% completion but only a 2:1 TD:INT ratio on >300 attempts [17:8]. Cook is at 24:5 with more attempts/game at 31 (to Coker's 26), but at just 57% completion. he's a better game manager and much less likely to turn it over.

but the most most impactful advantages:

penalties: MSU-43 yds/gm; ALA-57 yds/gm
turnovers
: MSU #4 nat'l at +16; ALA #26 at +7. pretty large margin discrepancy that can't really be explained by "S-E-C!" so this is the kicker imo

so basically you root for MSU's run D to play out of its mind and make Coker throw. the efficiency number is scary and obviously not ideal but it's the best chance they have.

Stayed up and watched that Wisky game till the end. Couple of thoughts;

  • I'm assuming the SEC refs thought USC was South Carolina and thus the horse fucking they put on Bucky?
  • Regardless of the why, it was terrible but still wasn't enough. Better team won.
  • It's been fun watching Corn and Bucky play Ike to southern California footballs Tina.
  • CFP panel putting Stanford ahead of OSU because they won that sorry ass conference still infuriates me
  • Today give me Sparty +10 glorious points. I think they win straight up and have since they announced the pairings. I will unabashedly be rooting for them.
  • I'd like to see Houston win obviously but think they get the smack down from FSU
  • I think Oklahoma will beat Clemson but it's a B12 vs ACC slap fight so who fucking knows.

The only thing that let's them off the hook, perception-wise, is if the Buckeyes don't dispose of ND (since Stanford barely beat them). Just another reason for tOSU to drive the point home and keep "1936" echoing through South Bend.
