2014 TSUN Shenanigans and Arguments

Somewhere I heard that Hoke's buyout was millions more because he was fired before 1/1/2015, instead of after. Is there any truth to that fact? If so, I find it pretty funny that they fired him, and they seem to be taking their time finding a replacement. I thought that if they would fire him before 2015, they must know who his replacement would be.

Oh well..

Talk about an inferiority complex. Richt underperforms in the one of the most talent-rich states, so he should do fine in the inferior B1G...

could he get a look? Seeing Tech beat them today, maybe Georgia looks for somebody else, new blood. Seems that every season that team looks great but never wins the big game. He might be a great fit in the B1G with Michigan.

Seems UM officials and fans think alike. Let's get someone who can't get it done in one of those better conferences. :hoke:

...Sources in Michigan told me, UM officials believe that Mora is frustrated with not being able to get UCLA to the top and think he might be willing to make a move to Michigan...

It would have dropped by 1 million on 1 January. But it would have been poor taste to start an official coaching search with Hoke still in place.

If Mora is that fragile minded that he wants to quit UCLA at the first sign of difficulty, I'd welcome him at Michigan.

I'm not even going to read it so sorry if this is repetitive but Mora is a west coast guy who reportedly turned down Texas and a $4MM salary last year...........Texas....think about that scUMers. Dude said no to Texas.

I think I saw this same "can't win there, he will want to go to the B1G because it's easy" fucked ass logic used making the case for Mullen as well.

I'm sure this never enters their minds but coaches saw that B1G CG beat down of Wisky. They understand what they are up against with Urban Meyer and OSU resources, they see what he has the program on the cusp of. They aren't going to be lining up for a job where one of the primary requirements is to best him head to head more often than they lose to him because they think it's fucking easy.

Was this really a good use of money? Their gift mostly went to buy retirement hot dogs for Joke. They could have been more effective by putting a plaque on the barbeque grill.
The J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach
Through their foundation, the Harris family made a $10 million donation to the university for the "naming and endowment of the head football coach position." Per Michigan's official Feb. 20 regents meeting agenda, upon approval, the school's head football coach would be officially known as the "J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach." The Harris family already has made various donations to Michigan and its athletic department over the years. The football program's locker room is currently named in their honor. "This is the first endowed coach position at the University of Michigan," the official regents communication letter states. "The head football coach is responsible for preserving, enhancing and passing along the rich history and tradition of Michigan football to the next generation of student-athletes on the team.

I actually think this does enter the minds of potential candidates. A huge part of that job is being able to beat the Buckeyes fairly regularly. If the new coach can't do that, he could be fired pretty quickly. If you are a candidate for that position and already have a decent job, I think you are absolutely looking at Urban Meyer and the pool of talent he is building up and considering whether it is worth taking a job where you could very easily end up getting your ass kicked by your main rival every year.

In other words, I think the presence of Urban is going to make their coaching search more difficult.

And you get to start off trying to compete without a competent QB on the roster. That alone will take a couple of years to fix at absolute best.
