2014 TSUN Shenanigans and Arguments

I could see a dantonio team doing anything else any other team could do.

Not sure where this Dantonio as class act/friend of OSU narrative comes from.

Given his history here, and with Tressel in general, I think we all know exactly where the narrative comes from.
That said, I agree he's not "a class act". He's a damn good football coach, however, and currently fielding the only team on the schedule making waves nationally. I don't think we need a strong conference overall, but we do need at least 1 other bell cow in the East Division and Dantonio seems to be the only one up to it.

I don't mind Dantonio. I don't think he's gone out of his way to pay respect to Ohio State, nor do I think he needs to. As far as class act goes, that's something that the fans of coaches who are being shown the door say to argue against firing them. Or, when the fanbase's identity is so intertwined with a coach, they can see past his faults (often turning them into gains), he becomes the epitome of "class". (You know who I'm talking about.) Bottom line: I don't think Dantonio is a class act, nor does he pretend to be. Instead, he does what he does and he backs it up with words in his press conference: "Yeah - shove that up your asses!" If Michigan State beats Ohio State, I'll have no problem rooting for Michigan State to make it to the playoffs and win them.

Yeah. I agree that the "class act" thing gets overplayed and is usually just whining from the losing team.

My issue with Dantonio was putting Gohlston back out there after being knocked unconscious in 2012, then being coy in the presser and saying he had the wind knocked out of him.

Take the outrage targeted at Hoke for the Morris thing and put it there imo. That's a firing offense if I am an AD.

I have zero problem with anything he does that involves rubbing scUM's face in anything.

Report: Michigan Donor Buys 2,000 “#FireDaveBrandon” Shirts For Students To Wear At Indiana Game

This past Saturday, a group of Michigan State fans in the front row at Spartan Stadium painted their chests in support of Wolverines head coach Brady Hoke, given the way the Spartans have dominated the Wolverines during his tenure. While we doubt that Michigan’s students appreciated the joke, we learned Sunday that they may be making a statement of their own in the stands this Saturday. According to Alejandro Zuniga over at The Michigan Daily, a “very giving” donor has purchased 2,000 t-shirts that read #FireDaveBrandon. Brandon, of course, is the school’s athletic director.

The donor is working with a senior named Craig Kaplan and wants students to wear them for the Indiana game.

I have de committed from the University of Michigan. Thank you to the Michigan coaching staff for the opportunity they gave me.
Michigan's 2015 Class of De-Commitments
1. Damien Harris (Scout 4*, #5 RB, #53 overall, 216 points)
2. George Campbell (Scout 4*, #8 WR, #55 overall, 213 points)
3. Darian Roseboro (Scout 4*, #14 DT, #145 overall, 207 points)
4. Shaun Crawford (Scout 4*, #19 CB, #157 overall, 202 points)
5. Garrett Taylor (Scout 4*, #30 CB, #270 overall, 191 points)

The above five players have a combined 1,029 recruiting "points" in Scout's system. A recruiting class with just those five players would currently rank as the 55th best recruiting class in the country.

Michigan's nine current verbals have a combined 1,735 recruiting points, which currently ranks as the 30th best recruiting class in the country.

The Michigan situation is both hilarious and pathetic at the same time.

You'll be able to add 5* TE Chris Clark to that list soon, I'd expect. He's as committed to scum as I am to never eating chicken wings again.

The one thing that is always prominent in my mind when I think of Dantonio is that the last time tOSU won a National Championship game, he was on our sideline.
IIRC, there were reports that Dantonio was one of the leading negative recruiters against tOSU a few years back. While I appreciate his contributions to the program in 2002-03, eff him. Though I do also appreciate his most excellent trolling of scUM.

I loved Dantonio when he sent Cie Grant at Dorsey a few years ago. Now that he has moved up north, I can't generate any bad feelings for him.

I look at what MSU has been pretty much all my life - somewhere between bottom tier and mediocre. I know we used to use a phrase to describe the stupid stuff that MSU did and happened to them: "That's Sparty being Sparty." Well, Dantonio had to go in there and deal with all that before he could be successful - and he has.

In order to have some extra motivation to beat scUM, Mike Hart gave it to him, and he sure has gotten plenty of milage out of it.

But if you go on scUM boards and look at what their fans are saying about it, it's just pathetic. On FOOTBALL forums they are talking about how MSU students and grads could not get into scUM. They aren't ever going to learn! It's their institutional arrogance - demonstrated by reactions like that - that has to change. After the RichRod and Hokey eras, you would think these people would learn some humility. But no. They get trounced, but their reflex is to say, "Yeah, but we are smarter." Good grief.
