2014 tOSU Offensive Line Discussion

Q&A: Urban Meyer

Q: Perhaps the biggest question mark on your team is the offensive line. How do you feel about that unit?

A: I feel good about the guy (assistant coach Ed Warinner) leading the unit. I feel good about the character of the people in the unit. I could lie to you, but I don’t feel good about it (right now). I hope on Aug. 15 (I will), but in spring ball, I was disappointed — though not surprised. I knew there was going to be a drop-off, but it was a big drop-off. We’re allowed to watch them now (in summer workouts), so I’ve been watching them work out. There are some good things happening.

Q: Taylor Decker has to become the leader of that line. How is he doing?

A: He is our hardest worker right now because of the culture (created by his former teammates on the line).

Q: How much help do you expect from center Chad Lindsay, the transfer from Alabama?

A: I’m hoping a lot. It’s a little bit of a risk, but there’s a pretty good résumé behind him. I talked with coach (Nick) Saban to find out exactly what was going on (with his decision to leave). … He won’t be wide-eyed.

Wow. That is all I can muster. I'm at a loss for words seeing these guys dominate consistently at both levels for the entire game tonight. Those holes & gaps they gave Zeke tonight were unbelievable. Hats off to you guys, you earned it.

Warriner deserves his own bathroom...like, handicap bathroom space. But everyone needs to applaud this unit for what they did this season. Great coach or not, they received their coaching, worked their tails off, and became a dominant unit when everyone thought they would be a liability. My absolute shout out to the following in order: Taylor Decker, Billy Price, Jacoby Boren, Pat Elflein, and Darryl Baldwin. This lineup inspired zero confidence to begin the year, yet I walk out of January literally unwilling to trade a single guy for anyone in the country. Great job fellas, cannot wait to see you back next year.
