I think the order will be depend on many factors. At this point it appears to be Smith's job to lose, with probably Zeke running a second. Ball appears to be quicker.
And how in the world do you figure this? The most carries in a game smith has had this year is 4. In an absolute blowout against an overmatched FAMU, the coaches decided to use EzE, not rod. After Hall and Hyde, Wilson and Elliott have gotten the rest of the carries/and or touches from the RB position, not smith. Not taking anything from smith, but I fail to see how he's a favorite at the position. If anything, Elliott has shown, as has Wilson, that with limited carries they can cause fireworks. And that, IMO makes them more of a favorite to get more PT. I see Elliott and Wilson, and then a dog fight for the 3rd spot. Smith has a real chance of being passed up by Dunn or ball. And I will continue to state, to not forget about the freshman.
My comment had nothing to do with talent, despite pressure from his cousin, and promises of immediate playing time Dunn stuck to us.I keep seeing that in these threads..Dunn this and Dunn that.
Frankly, I don't see it.
Ball looks twice as quick to me in the hole and way more explosive.
I'm thinking that by 2015 (Ball + Elloitt ) > (Hyde + Hall)
From what I see Smith goes on the field after Hyde and Hall. Wilson is a wildcard. And could trump all other backs with his speed. I haven't seen anyone else play while the game's outcome was still in question.[/quote]te="pnuts34, post: 2403013, member: 12571"]And how in the world do you figure this? Smith was getting a lot of preseason love from UFM...surprised that he hasn't gotten more carries.
I think our "pair" will be Smith and Zeke, and the spare will be fight between Dunn and Ball. Wilson will be in a position all to himself.
I feel like including Dontre in this discussion is silly. He's basically playing his own position that none of these other guys can fill. I'd also like to see Dunn play again before I crown Eze the next starter
Dontre is listed as a RB and gets carries out of the backfield. But yes he's a hybrid as well. But if we're to list a position for him, it's at RB, let's be honest, he's not close to being a WR just yet.
The first part of your post speaks volumes. It's way too far in the future to predict our starters and the depth chart order for next order. Hell, it's too far ahead to predict it during the offseason in the summer. This summer many of us were talking about smith being the next starter after Hyde and hall left, Dunn would be alternating carries as the big back with smith and ball and Wilson would be our change of pace RBs with EzE getting garbage time or just having to wait his turn.
As of 11/2/13: EzE is probably our best true RB outside of Hyde and hall(when he's healthy), and looking like the future starter and star on offense. Wilson has been electric every time he touches the ball and is splitting between time at RB and WR. Ball is starting to get lost in the shuffle and smith is still a question mark, and a guy that is more practice folk tale and myth than proving anything on the field.
At this point I could only peg Elliott as a player that will get a lot of carries.
