2014 NCAA Basketball Tournament (official thread)

This is why I don't see it as a national title rather a tournament championship. Same thing with conference tournament vs. regular season.

True, except when Wichita State lost to Kentucky by 2 points. That game proved their entire season was a fraud.

Agreed. The beginning of the tournament is fun to watch and all, but the tournament is such a horrible way to decide the national champion that I often have lost interest in it by the end. I'm not sure I'll tune in for much more than a little bit of the first half on Monday, if at all.

That game last night is gonna sting for a while, but I feel pretty good about Wisconsin's future given they only lose Brust.

You have to wonder how long Traevon Jackson will be re-living/thinking about those foul shots.

Not really the last-second shot, because those go in and out, but the free throw that could've made it a three-point game. He's strong-minded, so he'll be fine though.

I had to laugh at the ESPN article titled "Kentucky's run greatest of all time" talk about all time knob slobbing of the "Cinderella" team full of HS all Americans that was supposed to go undefeated but underachieved all year until the exact right time....

Kentucky is an ESPN brand. They will sell the shit out of Callipari and the wildcats until it's time to cover football.

watching some of the fab 5 games on youtube i thought that they were much better team players and passers than any of cal's nba/college teams...rose, webber, and howard were NBA vets wich is the mark of a great basketball player...athleticism doesn't last forever...

but i give kentucky credit, they made some clutch shots that champion teams make..

I don't like Kentucky either, but they took out the only undefeated team in the tournament then beat the two participants in last year's title game...and that only got them to the Final Four. That sort of run is rare, to say the least.

Kentucky seems to be the popular pick to win but I think UConn might have another surprise left in them. They best guard on the floor tonight is Napier, and UK has been living on the edge for two weeks.

Kentucky has the slash athleticism. And because of the slash that means players collapse and lose their man: rebounding is the other key. Uconn needs to limit slash and rebounds (Tough to do with KY).

BTW Fuck Calipari.

Eh, those arguments appealing to last season are pretty meaningless. Case in point--the winner of tonight's game will have beaten a team tonight that didn't even make the tournament last year.
