i still don't understand how OSU falls to the 6 line...

Ohio State was #24 in the rankings. A 6 seed is right in line with where they should be.

I was hoping to reach the Sweet 16 until about 15 minutes ago. Now I'll be shocked if we're still playing a week from today.

Eh, get past Dayton, and Syracuse isn't playing very well at all. The carpet isn't layed out, but both games are winnable. If they can avoid the prolonged periods of poor play they've struggled with lately.
